So yesterday I went to a bridal shop that was going out of business and had everything half off!!! I have been looking at mermaid dresses up until now but I saw and tried on a ball gown that was beautiful. The dress is by Posh Bridal Precious Formals(never heard of them and cannot find anyone who has worn this dress or any pictures other than the model pic) and was $1100 and she is willing to let it go for $602 including taxes and everything. Total princess look and fitted me perfectly! I am only 5’1ish so i dont want to look swallowed up by this huge ball gown.
On the other hand i have fallen in love with this Val Stefani Moonlight dress that is $1300+tax. It is fitted and shows everything. I have a little pudge I am trying to lose but if I dont I dont want to be uncomfortable in front of all my guests in my big day.
So, I need your help. which dress do you guys think i should pick?? I am having a cathedral church wedding if that helps.HELP!!

It’s really hard to say without seeing YOU in them at all, but I prefer the first one out of those two – I love the detailing on the top.

Both dresses are beautiful. The ball gown seems to go with a cathedral church wedding and it fits you perfectly. So, that’s 2 positives for the ball gown. (If it fits you perfectly you won’t be swallowed up. If it is too long it can be hemmed.) The mermaid shows your pudge and you don’t want to be uncomfortable on your big day. That’s 1 maybe 2 negatives. Because of this… I voted ball gown.

i think the mermaid dress is absolutely amazing…. it’s hard to tell what the ball gown one looks like without seeing it on you or a model but the mermaid one is HOT!!!!!

That ballgown looks VERY similar to a Justin Alexander dress that comes in both floor length length (style# 8483) and tea length (style# 8465). Here is a link to a pic of a bee trying it on
and tea length has its own thread http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/justin-alexander-8465-tea-length/page/2

They both look very pretty! love the lace detailing on the top of the ball gown! However, I am getting a mermaid fit and prefer more fitted gowns than fuller gowns. So I like the 2nd one better. I’m 5’3 and petite so I prefer things that show my figure versus not seeing my figure in something full! Just my opinion though, get what you want!

I drool over tulle ballgowns such as the one you are considering. Even though my dream dress is more of an a-line, I just think they are so gorgeous on other Bees! Maybe because I am a tad old (in my opinion) to rock a princess, and live vicariopusly through you guys! My vote is the ballgown!
