Design help needed! We bought a house a month ago and have slowly been eliminating the biggest eyesores from the house. Next on the list is the ugly builder grade brass chandelier that hangs in our stairwell and one that is in our breakfast nook. I’m in love with the Globe Lantern from the YHL collection (http://www.shadesoflight.com/young-house-love-large-wire-globe-lantern-7-colors.html) but can’t decide on a color! It’s between something colorful (Eggplant or Dark Teal) or go the safe route and choose the Midnight. Here are pictures of how the stairwell looks right now, what the breakfast nook looks like right now (stairwell will be painted in that color) and a mood board that has the overall color scheme of the house. What do you suggest?

Congrats on your house! I’d go the safe route with the midnight color. Those stairwell fixtures are not fun to replace, so go with a shade that can work with future design and color changes around the house. I feel your pain though – ugly brass fixtures were the bane of my existence when we bought our house last year.

I think the Purple would be really pretty if your inspiration board is what you already have or plan on getting. I like the tealish furniture with the purple light.

I say the purple as well. It’ll be a nice pop of subtle color

I would put it in the breakfast room in any of the colors you suggested (if you get tired of the color, you can always spray paint it!), but you might want to consider a different light for your stairwell. There is only one bulb in that fixture so it may not be enough light for your stairwell. I have a similar light in my breakfast room but it has six bulbs (if you have your heart set on something like it in the stairwell.) Love your color scheme and pillow ideas!
