I'm seeking some imput on what wedding dress I should choose for the big day. I've narrowed it down, but am having trouble rationalizing what will look good on my body and be 100% perfect for our very unusual venue.
My fiancee and I have decided to tie the knot in his parents' hometown of Kurseong, West Bengal, India. That's right, a little township in the Himalayan Darjeeling Tea District! His whole family is Catholic Nepali, and I'm white, so the planning for our ceremony, reception, and honeymoon has been incredibly interesting.
I've been drawn to relativley slim gowns because a) that's what my fiancee would prefer, b) they should travel more easily than a poofy "Elephant Dress," and c) they're relativley kind on our "young couple" budget.
I am 5'6" and 118 lbs. My measurements are Bust: 33B, Waist: 24.5, and Hips: 35.5. I won't be wearing heels because my fiancee is pretty short!
I like the first one best. I actually tried on the Mori Lee one and it's kind of weird looking. The vertical lace looks interesting in the photo but in person it just looks weird - if you're curvy it doesn't lay right, and if you have a boyish figure it just makes you look even more like a boy.
But I'm thinking that the raw silk one would actually be pretty fantastic for a wedding in India!
This discussion was switched to another thread due to technical difficulties, so if you'd like to see all the input other brides have given, as well as some of my conclusions in order to add more fun dress advice and decorating tips for my venue, please check it at http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/help-me-pick-my-wedding-dress-3 !
Dear Brides,
I'm seeking some imput on what wedding dress I should choose for the big day. I've narrowed it down, but am having trouble rationalizing what will look good on my body and be 100% perfect for our very unusual venue.

The dresses I plan to choose from are a lace Dessy sheath (http://www.dessy.com/dresses/wedding/1016/), a delicatley beaded Mori Lee, made strapless (http://www.bestbridalprices.com/mori-lee-wedding-dress-2181-p-17420.html?cPath=1_42) or a raw silk Watters bridesmaid dress in white, ordered with 5" of extra length so a seamstress can cut the bottom for a sweep train (http://watters.com/product.php?coll=watters&style=5433). I am also, for some reason, attracted to this used Demitrios gown (http://preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/4736/Demetrios-Sposabella-4233-Size-6.html).
You can see pictures of where our wedding will take place @ http://flickr.com/photos/28728949@N08/sets/72157606220980118/ and we'll also be having photographs taken at the hotel where we're spending our wedding night. Their website is http://www.elginhotels.com/.
All dress input is appreciated, as are decorating, photo, and other tips!
Thanks so much,
Linsey
