Okay so I’ve been having trouble my MOH from the start.
I need to get all the girls long dresses hemmed, so I asked them to have their shoes by the end of January. Three of the four already have theirs.
So my MOH now wants me to have her dress hemmed to “just a pair of shoes I have and then I cant go over that height”….
This seems like a bad idea to me.. She’s had since July of last year to find shoes but hasn’t been looking.
Would you let a bm hem a long dress without having her shoes yet?

is your wedding truly in october? she doesn’t need to get alterations til september. maybe august if you’re wanting things done real early. she has plenty of time to get a pair of shoes

- Wedding: May 2014 - Madison, WI
I really wouldn’t worry too much about it, I think her plan will be okay. The last wedding I was in I paid $200 for my BM dress and honestly didn’t want to pay more for alterations. So I found shoes that I could wear with the dress to avoid it being hemmed. The skirt had pick ups and detailing on it that made hemming it kind of pricey. It worked out fine. I don’t think the bride or anyone could tell you what our shoes looked like at her wedding with our long dresses. She still has months until your wedding too if your date is accurate, could she wait? Does it have to be hemmed now? I understand she had a lot of time to find shoes, but sometimes life gets in the way and you think you have so much time then all of a sudden you don’t…It’s not an issue I would be too worked up about I guess.

It seems like I have a lot of time but from Feb 15-Jun 15 I’m in tax season working 8.30 to 8.30 7 days a week… So i’m trying to get a jump on things so I’m not rushing everything!
Also my one of my BM is getting married in August and gone for September on her honeymoon and the other is gone for the whole month of September to Greece for her delayed honeymoon.
I’m just freaking out that I’m only gonig to have 2 months to plan a wedding!

ah i totally understand. I was MOH in a wedding where the bride is an accountant. It was hectic to say the least! (especially with a 9 month engagement- i would have died!) So, if your dresses are long, can she wear a pair of shoes she already owns that would coordinate with the other girls? Then she wouldn’t have to worry about going out & buying new shoes at all. Otherwise, I dont see it being too much of an issue if shes going to use a heel height she’s used to & would likely buy again.

@theEguarantee: I agree! and I said any shoes she has that would work with the dress are fine but she says “they aren’t good enough” (her words not mine)
She’s been difficult on everything so far… read some of my other posts lol

I am assuming that you are taking the dresses to be hemmed.
Can you not just let this be her problem? If she doesn’t meet your deadline, give her the dress and she can get it hemmed herself after she does have her shoes.
