I’m a street size 8 and am 5’8″ and 155 lbs. I think I’m a bridal 10.  I think the 6 will work! Also depends a lot on silhouette of the dress and you.

Missjan2015:  well I weigh about 145, but I’m only 5’4″, and a size 8 or 10 street.

What are your measurements? Also, know that bridal sizes generally run smaller than street sizes (that’s why I specified my street size).

I’d say to trust the girl in the shop. She probably knows how that designer typically cuts dresses and knee which size to order.

I am an a mercian living in Aussie so I know how confusing sizing can be. Typically I am a street size 4us or 8au but I bought my wedding dress in both a 4 and 6 us sizing. The 6 is what I ended up keeping but I had it altered down a size in the waist. I don’t know if it was my designer but I found it to be pretty similar to street sizing just a little snugger. I am 5’6.5″ and weight 133lbs

Missjan2015:  Do you mind letting me know what size (NZ) you are usually? I’m an NZ bee too and I would love to know the conversion – I’m so tempting to buy some bridesmaids dresses online, but everything is US sizing!

Missjan2015:  Wicked, we are about the same size, I might be a bit shorter though – that makes it easy! Thanks!<br />I’m in Dunedin, my FI and I are getting married at a church in the suburbs 1 March 2015 and then having the reception at Otago Museum 😀 It’s a bit nerdy but that is perfect for us.

Where are you tying the knot?

Nothing helpful to add here: I have completely given up trying to understand sizing (I’m basically an NZ10, UK8, US6 and Mexico XL arrrrgh), but I just wanted to say “HI NEW ZEALAND BEES!” (I thought I was the only one and was feeling quite alone!)

It really depends on the style of the dress.

I am a street size 6-8, pear shaped with a small chest and weight 137.

My dress is considered a fit and flare, and is a 10. However, I tried on some sheath dresses and had no problem fitting into a 6 – even when I tried on another dress by the same designer in a different style and was an 8 or a 10.

G’Day from your Aussie cousin!

The advice I can offer is, those sizing conversion things don’t work, unless they are actually on the label.

I am an size 8, used the conversion chart on the internet and bought off eBay an American size two, turns out I would need a size four. It would coat more to get the dress altered then it cost….

Another Kiwi here – from Christchurch, now in Auckland.

I’m a NZ size 8, I have some US blouses which are US size 4, but I’ve never bought a dress in US sizing. I’m 5’4″ and 58kg.
