As the title says- I need help figuring out a present for my mother in law’s 50th birthday this weekend. Her birthday isn’t for another 2 weeks, but we just found out there is a suprise party for her this Saturday. The thing with my MIL is that she has everything she could possible want. She has money to buy anything that she would need. Shopping for her is difficult. (I usually start planning months in advance for her Christmas present!) She is a teacher, so she gets tons of gift cards each year from her students. Her wallet is full of them for every place you could imagine. She doesn’t drink, loves chocolate and reads. But I can’t think of any other “hobbies” she has. My father in law gets her nice jewelry for Christmas each year. And we can’t afford the type of jewelry he buys her. Aggghhh! I’m at a loss! Any suggestions? TIA!!

i don’t know where you live but what about a gift card to the hershey spa since she loves chocolate.
or just a spa in general.
with only a week left it might be too late to order stuff but what about some ghiardeli chocolate or swiss chocolate.

What about an experience? There are gift cards for different kinds of lessons, events, or experiences. Is there anything that she has always wanted to do or something you think she would enjoy?
This is an example of what I mean http://www.cloud9living.com. I think this is for the States, but there are similar ones for other countries.

Lolasmomma: I second the motion for an experiential gift. Do you have a local chocolatier that offers classes?

Thanks ladies! I would love to do a spa package, but she won’t go. She has received gift certificates/cards for massages and she doesn’t use them. Boo! I will check out the experimental gifts in her area. We live about 2 1/2 hours away. Thanks again!

How about a flying lesson? I’m 52 and I would jump at the chance.
