Contact them, and say, “Um, weird question…did I by any chance leave Super SUPER Mario Brothers there…like a long time ago?  I was wondering if I had, and since I loved that game I kinda wanted to play it again.  Can you check?”

Nothing wrong with that…

Do you have their phone number?  I’d call and say something like:   I’m in the area next week, are you free to have coffee?  It would be nice to catch up.  I was also hoping to pick up my ‘x’ game.  It has a ton of sentimental value and when my mom picked up the Super Nintendo system, it wasn’t included.

ETA:  since you emailed them, you could reference the email – ie:  sorry to bother you with this again, but I was wondering if you’ve seen an ‘x’ game around.  It was with my system that was left at your place….
