Sorry, this is a little long..

Ok, here's the deal, I chose to have my wedding at a hotel. I chose this specific hotel because they are one of the larger ones in the area (about 384 rooms). I chose a hotel in general because I don't want people driving afterward and want everyone staying there. About 150 of our guests are coming in from out of town. I told the catering manager throughout negotiations, and then the "wedding planner" they assigned me, that the rooms were the MOST important thing to me and we would be needing about 80-90 rooms. They would only open blocks of like 20 rooms at a time because I guess that's the way it goes. The wedding is at the end of September, and we already have about 40 rooms booked. I was all set to send my invites at the end of this week with the room block info in it. I found out this evening that the hotel is FULL for a night 2.5 months away!!! There are just a few rooms left in our block. But I'm talking 5 or 10 out of the roughly 40 or 50 I need! I could open a block at another hotel but all the regular room rates are more than triple what my block rate is (which isn't exactly cheap either), and my invites are all printed with this original information, and all the envelopes are sealed! I know it's not the end of the world, but does anyone have any advice? Any kind of recourse? I left a message for my horrible wedding planner asking why she never told me the hotel was almost full. I know that's probably not her job, but she's been awful about everything. She has not come to me with anything, I have to hound her to get anything done, so I'm pretty fed up already. But what do I do? The ONLY reason I chose a hotel wedding was so people wouldn't have to drive. We're having everything there, and we're paying through the nose for it. I knew it was a busy weekend, but there are only two events going on in the hotel (one being ours), and we only get about 10% of the rooms? Come on! What do you girls think? I'm so sad Help! Is is, in fact, your wedding planner's job to provide you with any and all information that is pertinent to your wedding planning, and since you made it clear that this was a priority, she fails. Talk to the hotel manager. He won't be able to magically create more rooms for you, but perhaps he can arrange rooms at the same rate at a sister hotel nearby.
