So, I’ve never, ever dyed my hair. Not even the spray stuff that washes out. I love my hair color, and the fact that I get natural highlights in the summer (as long as I spend enough time in the sun). However, this year I didn’t get a lot of time in the sun so my hair looks sorta bland.
I went for a hair trial, and am set on a waterfall braid… The stylist recommended I get highlights to help make the braid stand out/pop more.
What do you think?
Here are trial pics to show you the braid part (the bottom started out with a lot more curls. but this was after she took out/redid the braid several times, so the curls fell! They’ll be set on the wedding day though, and I’m getting layers to help add volume and help the curls stay better!):
You can kind of see some of my natural highlights in the first pic, but the back of my head looks so boring…
I would only add just a couple highlights to help the braid stand out more… But I’m nervous because I really do love my natural hair color, and I’ve never colored it in any way before!
Also, my wedding is exactly 2 weeks away. Eeep!

yes but get it done ASAP since your wedding is so soon, just in case you don’t like it

Personally, I find your hair to be stunning and I wouldn’t touch it.

I’m one of those never-dyed-my-hair people, so I understand you. I think your hair looks great, but it would also look great with highlights. I would make it subtle though – no platinum blonde or anything. But just a little something to make it pop? Could be gorgeous, but so is your natural hair!

You have a beautiful natural color that many people would kill for. I wouldn’t touch it. I thnk the braid stands out just fine.

If I were you, I wouldn’t mess with it! Your natural hair color is pretty. I’m like you, I have a similar hair color with natural highlights and I have never colored my hair. I think you should leave it! 🙂

Lol as a hair color virgin myself (never processed one bit) I say keep your hair natural!
It’s so hard to get your hair back to it’s natural state afterward without an odd grow out.
Plus, your hair is beautiful!
This is my unprocessed hair on our wedding day 🙂

I wouldn’t. I once asked for subtle highlights, and half my head ended up platinum blonde. I kid you not.
I just wouldn’t risk it this close to the wedding. That event led to the next few years of majorly screwed up hair (trying to fix it) and eventually a really short haircut.
Your hair color is lovely. Even if you had more natural highlights it wouldn’t be THAT different than your hair is now (I get them too in the sun).
Unless you really trust your hairdresser I’d just skip it.

If you did I wouldn’t just do some in the back, because they will be noticeably different than your natural highlights.

Your hair is beautiful as is!
Also, I think I just found my wedding hair!!!!

@lovelove1028: If you love your hair so much, don’t do it. You love your hair, who cares what a silly stylist has to say.

Aww, you’re all so kind! 😀 Thank you so much. I’m still up in the air about it… I love my hair even more when I get the natural highlights, but I just wasn’t able to get enough sun this summer. 🙁 I just don’t know if they’ll be able to make it look that way with dye…

The coloring in the first picture is flipping beautiful. I’m assuming the other two pics are just bad lighting. IF that is the case DO NOT do anytihng to your hair. It is so pretty as it is!
Love the braid too!

I just don’t think that you should make a decision like this for one day. If you love your hair as is, why change it, especially for the back? It’s lovely. If you do, however, go with a really light-handed balayage technique, that will yield the most natural sun-kissed looking results.
