I personally like option number 2 better than number 1.  It would be really hard to decide who to move into the other room.

Of the two, I think the second one is the best option.  With that option, at least your guests will all be able to have dinner in the same room.

I would be annoyed by the situation too, that’s very frustrating!

Eek!

How tight would it be to put 10 at a table instead of 8? You’d have to redo your seating chart, but it would mean no moving tables and everyone in the same room…

I think option #2 is a fairly typical scenerio. At least at all of the weddings I’ve been to, this is what’s done. People will not sit the entire time once the dancing starts, so you won’t need all of the tables anymore!

Option 2 is definitely better than option 1. I had my bridal party’s table moved once dancing started. My place did almost the exact same thing to me and I was NOT happy about it. But, you do what you have to. So sorry this is happening to you! Maybe after the wedding is over, you can complain to the manager there and try to get a discount on your bill? Our guy did that for us and we got money back for the people who were inconvenienced.

If they screwed up, and you have it in writing, I would request that they rent more tables to seat 10 people.  You’ll have to redo the seating chart, but at least everyone will have a seat in the same room.  They should incur the cost of renting the tables.

I like the option you picked better too. Maybe you could have a buffet table or something that won’t be used after the dinner hour serve as a place for your guests to store their things? Or have the sweetheart table be a little storage place? You won’t be sitting in it long! Just make suer you have a plan for their stuff. This happened at a wedding I attended and the site coordinator threw my bag on the floor of the bar and my stuff spilled out of it. I was livid.
