Hi Bees, I hope you can reassure me a little. I got a call today that our wedding rings were in, but when we went to pick them up they had mixed up the sizes! So my ring was a size 8.5 and my FI’s was a 5.5. They are sending them back to get them sized correctly, but I am really concerned that resizing them so much is going to somehow hurt the structural integrity of the rings. Just for reference here are the rings. What do you think? Are they going to be okay? Thanks for your help!

I would be concerned too! They should just order new rings in the correct sizes for you, since it was their mistake. Sizing up or down 3 full sizes sounds like a pretty bad idea to me..especially if the first one has diamonds on the band. I think resizing can change the shape of the band and cause the diamonds to pop out. Nice looking rings, though!

This is pretty much what I was thinking. They assured us that they would be able to fix them, but I can’t say that I trust them all that much after this, and I definitely don’t want any diamonds popping out!

My ring had to be custom made because it was more than 2 sizes smaller than the standard. The jeweler told me that sizing down wasn’t as big of a problem as sizing up because they just take metal out and reset it. So, honestly, yours should be ok. Your FI’s ring will likely need additional metal anyway, so it would make more sense for them to just totally start over.
Can you call and request that they redo the rings entirely? If the store won’t help you, I would call corporate and explain the situation because it needs to be made right, especially since rings aren’t exactly chump change!!
