- Wedding: July 2012
Hi All – I am looking for some guidance and direction. My fiance and I are getting married in Missouri in July. We are really down to earth people and his family is really the same way – we are all pretty backwoods and laid back. This is my third marriage and his first. We are getting married in Missouri, close to all his family as we live in Illinois but I have no family attending besides my two children (who are in the ceremony).
We are on a very limited and I mean limited budget (like around 2 to no more than 3000 for everything) but plan to have a nice small wedding. My plan was to do something like my second marriage (first wedding) and have a cake/punch/fruit/meat & cheese tray type of reception with no alcohol. My fiance doesn’t dance so that ruled out getting a DJ and getting some dance moves on and his family really doesn’t do the dancing thing either. So we are wanting to have the reception right there at the church – no biggie. However, his cousin who is helping me get things lined up since I am in Illinois and they are in Missouri asked if I was open to having a potluck type of reception and everyone bring a side dish. If this is the case, we would be willing to purchase the meat, etc.
My question is….do you think this is appropriate since they are all pretty down to earth and laid back? We are not asking for any gifts as we don’t need anything as we already have a household set up, etc. We have been living together for 3 1/2 years now.
Please let me know what you think?
