We just used DJ Michael of MCO Productions for our 8/14/10 wedding. He is based in Boston and was awesome. Super easy to work with. Responsive. Attentive. Our guests had a blast and our venue (a restaurant, UpStairs on the Square) was more than impressed with him (our space and reception was a little unconventional). I highly recommend him.
We didn't use him as our wedding was in Atlanta, but a friend of mine has his own DJ service, and I hear he does a great job! He is out of Boston area, but sure he would travel to RI.
Check him out: www.DJbyJake.com

@ Miss Mander & @Westie Thanks for the recommendations! I will definitely look into these!
I hired pro music productions DJ kevin cain and just meeting up with him to talk about everything I instantly knew he would be awesome! He is from Boston but does things all over the place!
I have interviewed Champagne Toast and they seem great.

I haven't used them but they have great reviews. Good luck!
We used Alan from Moondance Productions and the dance floor was hopping all night. He can be a little slow to respond but definately delivers 100%. I think Moondance also has some other DJs as well. They are RI based.
I'm going with Larry from Engagements, but I also met with Victor from Party Time, I've heard he's great.
Are you still looking? I'm using Xtreme Soundz DJ http://www.xtremesoundzri.com/
Check out NuImage Entertainment they are based out of the Boston area and were absolutely amazing.
@Miss Mander: I am SOOO glad to read what you wrote about DJ Michael. We have booked him for our July 2011 wedding. I had read good things about him on here from others but it's great to read more recent reviews!
@Miss Mander: I followed up with DJ Michael and he's already booked for MAY!!!
@ starfish: Followed up with your recommendations and Victor is also booked, communicating with Larry now.
Thanks Bees for all of your recommendations, I'm following up on them. I'm still super surprised that DJs book this early!!
Mr. Music Man he is in CT. We are using him for our wedding after seeing him at a couple of weddings we attended that never "died". He is very laid back and has tons of extras and features that he is willing to toss into his price.
Our DJ for our Bristol RI wedding was John Bellagamba from Rhythm Pro. We loooooooooooooooooooved him. I've never seen most of our guests have as much fun--people were dancing whom we never expected to dance. He was super nice and professional and lovely to work with too.
@ almsotSLC:Checked with Victor and he was already booked.
We booked Larry from Engagements. I got a really good review from another Bee on here, and all of my vendors love him. I can't wait!
Thanks ladies for all of the suggestions!
Dj Vin! Without a doubt. He is based in CT, but travels. He is super professional and DJ's in clubs, bars, etc. He knows how to keep everybody on the dance floor and can cater to any type of music interests.
I am using Murray Hill Productions. They have a large list of DJs all ranging in prices, so you're sure to find someone in your price range
@ginandtonic: Glad your wedding went well with John! We met with him and loved him, his stlye seems way different than typical DJS, but he refuses to play any line dances. Which I know for most brides is a good thing, since they are on a lot of "do not playlists", but it's a tradition in my family to do the Cha Cha slide and Cotton Eyed Joe. He said he refused to play them.
For other brides- I think he would be awesome if your ok with no line dances, but if your like me and want them, it's good to know this in advance. We drove down to RI to see him and I wish we knew it before the drive.
Oooh Pete From Beat Train Productions is really great. He wasn't my DJ (who was horrible so I definitely wouldn't recommend him) but I attended a wedding that used BTP. His MC skills were perfect and he was so friendly and really got the crowd going. I've been recommending him to everyone. =)

Hi Bees!
I'm having a difficult time finding a DJ. Our wedding is May 29, 2011 in Rhode Island. For the reception, I want the music to be fun and have a party atmosphere. Do you have any suggestions??
The DJ doesn't have to be from RI but relatively close.
Thanks!
