Our wedding is more than a year out (next September, 2013) and I thought I had a lot of time but these past few weekends the fiance and I were trying to figure out an affordable hotel room block for our guests. Our reception/ceremony is in St. Helena, and we thought booking a place a bit further out (but renting a shuttle for people) would be the best idea.
But everything in Napa is EXPENSIVE! Places are already booking up for $250-350 a night!

We’ve even called Bonita Motel, which is a small motel and they won’t do blocks for us.
Is this just an impossible ask? I was going to try to take my time getting a website + invites out but now it looks like I have to do it ASAP.

How far out are you willing to go? Santa Rosa is about 45 minutes away from St. Helena and should have a lot more hotels with cheaper rooms.

@Ashy731: Did you try the River Terrace Inn? I’ve stayed there and loved it.

Fellow Bee Treejewel19 knows this area well, hopefully she responds to this…
Don’t let this stress you out too much, any time I get invited to a wedding in the Napa area, I expect to pay more for the hotel. 🙂

@csteen85: Thanks for the tip, I’ll take a look at that hotel too.
@Luv2BeachIt Trying not to stress, but I do feel bad that hotels are much more expensive than we anticipated! We were thinking about just picking the most reasonably priced place (looks like it’s going to be $200/night) and booking a shuttle to pick up from there. Then have shuttle service back to different places from the reception…

@instantcoffee: I’m pretty willing to do further out – even as far as 30 minutes. I looked at Santa Rosa though and the only problem is we were going to do a shuttle and the roads to St. Helena are really windy and curvy (not sure a shuttle could do that). I’m even looking at American Canyon area. Wish we didn’t pick such an expensive place now!
