Okay, for some background. Our meal will NOT be plated, it will be buffet style. Since it’s going to be a tad more laid back, we are having fajitas and other mexican dishes as our main meal.
However, we plan on having chargers at every seat for our guests. My question is would you go ahead and place a fork/knife at each setting? Would you place other utensils as well? HELP!!!
Thanks in advance!

I think that you should put a whole place setting at each seat.

I would at least have the fork and knife and a napkin to make things simpler. Carrying a plate while trying to balance utensils is hard! Ideally, have the whole thing.

I would set the table with the silver, yes. I think it’s just a nice thing to not have to carry everything back to your seat.
Also, where is the napkin? If the napkin is with the charger, then the silver should be too. You don’t want your guests sticking their hands in a bin (or similar) to pick out individual silver.
If you decide to put the silverware on the buffet, each setting should be individually wrapped in a napkin, it’s just more sanitary.

I went to a wedding with chargers and no silverware, we were so confused as to whether or not there was going to be a meal provided! In the end they did not serve a full meal, so why the heck did they have chargers? I say put silverware, even if its not going to be heavily used it will look cohesive, plus some people might want to eat their fajitas with silverware so as not to get dirty, etc.

Fork, knife, spoon AND dessert fork. Keep the utensils at the table so guests don’t have to juggle them in the buffet line.

Utensils on the table – all of them.

For those that are saying to put everything….are you sure? I feel like that could become a little overkill for our guests since our courses won’t be broken up like they would be if it were a plated dinner. Then again, I really don’t know what would be best haha hence the reason for asking in the first place! Thanks everybody for your responses……..glad to know other bees are up late too!

We are doing something similar and will be wrapping utensils at the buffet table with napkins..people will be sitting wherever they want and we definately want it to be more of a fun party rather than a formal dinner type thing..I know most will disagree but it’s the way that we want it done.
