You can just type "1," "2," "3" and then highlight those three. Click on the lower right side of the highlighted area and it should give you a + sign, then just click and drag as far down as you want it.
There are 2 easy ways to do this!
1. Fill Down - enter 1, 2, 3, in the first three rows, highlight, then put your cursor at the bottom right corner of the bottom cell (it should look like a plus) and drag down. Or, alternatively, highlight the cells with the 1, 2, 3, and all the ones you want to fill in below and choose Edit > Fill > Down.
2. Formulas - add one to each. (i.e. enter "1" in cell A1, the "=A1+1" in B1, then "B1+1" in in C1, etc...)
Hope that helps!
@jo.lee: ah! thanks! this darn programming class is going to be the death of me! :)
And you might have to right click on the plus sign and choose "fill series" to make sure the numbers are going up
@stephanie63087: Any time! I'm really, really familiar with Excel so if you ever need super quick help, feel free to PM me and the notification will go to my cell phone so I can answer pretty quickly. I adore Excel, so I should be able to help with most things! :)
okay another quick question.... i need the sum of a column... but when i use the sum equation is just gives me the equation and not the answer... how to do this?
In a box below the colum, write =SUM( and then highlight everything you want added, and then close the parenthesis. It should look something like =SUM(B1:B9).
@jo.lee: :) okay last one... i promise haha! to ocnvert seconds to minutes.... ?
