I am thinkin about buying a sample dresss from a private owner.Soterro and Midgley JSM1235. I thought it was a great deal but ofcourse when I went to see the dress–each of the sequins on the entire front is all yellowish/brown(seller did not mention this although I asked if there was anything noticeably wrong with the dress-she said no-so my expectations were high-then I was told by someone there that the dress was made like that–umm I think not–the back was the pretty dress I was expecting. just the front sequins is yellow/brownish-strange).. I dont think cleaning will fix this– Its those small plastic round sequins with the hole in the middle for the thread.
have any of you purchased a sample dress like this with sequins turned an ugly yellowish color:( she is selling it for cheap so i was gonna carefully clip off all the yellow sequins(it will take awhile but if it saves me money by gettin this sample dress–im gonna do it)
im a little worried that if i have it for a couple of years in my closet–that the rest will turn yellow–but the dress is cheap and im thinkin about goin for it. Have any of you had this issue with a dress you bought way before your wedding day????
Also I am thinkin about adding crystals to this dress with fabric/tac glue–I have been using it to add crystals to my veil and it is working well so far (in my opinion it seems to dry like hot glue)
Do you think his will work on this dress??or do you have other suggestions for adding crystals. I would like to do it myself–I have the time and patients.
Before and after pictures of DIY would be great!!

@missunderstood: If you have until Sept, 2013, I would wait to see if another sample of the same dress becomes available. I would worry about messing up the dress by adding crystals to it. While they will probably be fine on your veil, which isn’t interacting with your body that much, I think the crystals on the dress might fall off during the reception. It could be fine, but if the dress is reasonably formfitting, every time you bend over ect. the dress has to move with you and that might stress out the adhesive holding the crystals on. If you plan to add them to the wedding dress I would try them out on another dress first and wear it around for a day to see how they hold up. As for the dress yellowing, it will do that from the sun so keepng it in a closet will help. However it can also yellow from the oils on people’s skin so I would strongly consider having it professionally dry cleaned and preserved after you purchase it. That should remove the oils and make it much less likely to yellow. Then just make sure you store it in a cool, dry place away from the sun.

I do think you should wait a little bit more time to see what else comes up. You may be able to find a sample of this dress in better condition, or you may find a sample in an actual bridal salon that does not have this issues.

Thanks so much for your advice bees. True the veil is very still on my head and the dress is very form fitting so the crystals will be moving much more. The dress is such a low price I think that’s what draws me to it- but true if I found it for $200 more dollars in better condition I’d be much happier.
