- Wedding: June 2012
Ok here is my delimma, not only am I three months from my wedding, the Fiance and I took a wild hair and started looking at houses, and well, we found one that’s perfect. It has been on the market for a while and it does not look like it is going anywhere so we are holding off on making an offer for a bit because we do not want to be going through the closing process the week of the wedding. (as if we need any thing else to deal with that week.)
So if all goes well, we will be closing on and moving into our first home a few weeks after the wedding. But there’s closing costs, home inspections, pest inspections, assessments, lawyer fees, closing costs, down payments…ect…the list goes on and freaking on… it’s no wonder people don’t buy houses, but anyway…I said all that to say this.
My parents claim to be paying for the wedding and I have not spent as much as them nor am I going to end up spending as much as them. BUT MAN AM I HEMORRAGING MONEY RIGHT NOW BC OF WEDDING PURCHASES!!!!
So I am realizing I am going to have to cut somethings I really wanted….now it is a matter of what…
Here is the reception hall…lovely huh? NOT. anyway it was affordable. We are getting chair covers (i hope, ugh that’s a whole other issue) there will of course be centerpieces and candles and other things that will nicen up the space. The tables will be pulled back so that there is dancing area in the middle directly in front of the head table. My original plan was to only use the recessed lighting seen along the sides of the room for lighting and then hang lighted paper lanterns all over the center area. ….
Well paper lanterns plus lights to go in them are EXPENSIVE. and rest assured I will be the one paying. So now I am thinking of not having the lanterns…=/ I just think that the room is kind of blah and it needs some ambiance and using all the the provided lighting I think is going to be brighter than I want it. I want it to have an intimate cozy feel. Dim and laid back so people will get up and dance instead of feeling like they are in a hospital…But now I am afraid this won’t work and I am going to have to forgo the use of paper lanterns ect.
Also the room needs some decor about, I thought about making those tissue paper puffs but I doubt I can get them right and that does not help the lighting issue at all.
In a perfect world there would be lighted paper lanters and little fairyberries glimmering hanging from that center celing but..now I just don’t know…
Also wanted to try to have lamp style centerpieces on the tables thought maybe that would give off enough light without having to use the center lights. But I’m having a hard time making that affordable.
So essentially I am open to any suggestions…advice input whatever…
