Hi Bees - I'm looking for a north shore photographer - I heard there is a thread already with suggestions but I can't find it. I know someone recommended Little Fang Photo but anyone else have ideas for how to narrow down the search? WeddingWire returned 37 pages of photographers! Ack!
Thanks!
It really depends on your price range and the style of photography you would like.
My photographer was Jen Ing Photography and I really loved working with her and she had very reasonable rates (~2K).
Other popular Boston photographers:
P.S. Rates were based on this current 2010 wedding year. Prices may have gone up for 2011. Hope this helps!
We're using these guys from NH: Pixel Perfect Weddings
(please PM me for name to use as reference, if you choose them) :)
Where in the North Shore are you getting married? We got married in Nahant! Fellow North Shore Bride!!! <3
<-- north shore bride here too (live in Salem, wedding in Vegas)!
We just got our pics from Lisa Rigby yesterday, and THEY ARE AWESOME. She'll be blogging us later this week (our wedding was one of her destination ones this year in La Jolla, CA). I highly, highly, highly recommend her. She's just so nice, honest, and talented. I wish we were going to continue living in Boston so that we could keep hiring her throughout our lives for pregnancy/kids/family portraits. Someone else mentioned Jen Ing photography - heard great things about her as well, I think her and Lisa second shoot with each other sometimes :-). I know she has Fat Orange Cat second shoot with her often (they are shooting a wedding together this weekend!)
@said8me: Salem is one of my top areas to look once the husband I are ready to own! It's such a neat area & atmosphere :)
@MissBoston: Sent you a PM
@Edina: It really is! The FI and I have lived there for about 3 years, and absolutely love it! Short walk to downtown, the fun of Halloween, the shops, bars, artists, etc! Such a perfect little town!
I love love love the work of http://www.andunlimited.com/ I've met her in person and she's just the sweetest, most soft-spoken thing you'll ever see!
I'm getting married in Topsfield! We looked into Melissa Coe Photography in Danvers and her work is great. For what she offered, she was a little out of our price range so we went in a different direction. Same with Bharat Parmar who is based in Stoneham. They both had wonderful work but for everything FI and I were looking for, they just were out of our budget.
Best of luck to you!!!!
I HIGHLY reccomend our photographers...HinkleyPhoto. They also did the wedding of Mrs. Potato Chips and I fell in love with her e-photos. That's how I discovered Hinkley. The just did our wedding on 10.2.10 and had a sneak peek up on their blog less than 48 hours later. Here are some shots from our wedding.
I don't even know where to begin! Booking Hinkley Photo was one of the best decisions we made. My husband and I have received sooo many compliments on our photos and also what great people they are! Everyone commented on how friendly and kind they are. They made my husband and I feel so relaxed and I cannot even begin to tell you how much we LOVE the photos we've seen so far.
I'll end this review with one comment I received from a friend about their photos..."they capture the moment so beautifully.. like they are in your head and know what you are thinking and feeling"!!
Thanks Sarah! BTW did you get your dress at Vows?? I think I just tried it on last week. :) Congrats!!!
My top choices were Lisa Rigby and Allegro Photography. There are a ton of great photogs around here though. Good luck!
Michael Sparks Keegan is awesome. He did my sister's wedding last year and the photos were incredible. They were also super creative and fun to work with. I blogged some of their photos from my sister's wedding, here: http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/05/19/personalized-wedding/
@MissBoston: I initially tried it on at Vows but ended up buying it at La Riene in Waltham. ;)
@sarahd07: ME TOO! I bought my dress at La Reine on Friday - did you use Elena for alterations?
hey! i live on the north shore & got married in ipswich!
we used an out of town vendor for our photography, but I initially wanted her:
http://www.lexiphotography.com/
But she was booked on our date - her work is awesome, and I thought her prices were really reasonable!
@sarahd07: Awesome! I have some complicated stuff I need to do with my dress (replace the lace-up with a zipper, cut like a foot off the train) so wanted to make sure she had good reviews before I let someone take a scissor to the thing. :)
@ADMBoston: Awesome, thanks!! Seems like there are SO many great photographers in this area, it's taking away some stress about getting this done asap.
@MissBoston: My dress was alllll lace and the manufacturer sent the wrong length. So she had to cut off about two inches from the bottom and then reattach the lace. You NEVER would have known she did such a great job.
Awesome - mine is alll lace also. It needs a foot chopped off the train, major hemming (it's like 6 inches too long), 2 inches taken out of the hips, and lace-up replaced with a zipper. I know it's going to cost me but she seems good. :)
Just an update for Lexi Photography - she actually photographed my fiance's proposal to me (http://lexiphotography.com/blog/2009/10/kim-adam-proposal/). We adore her - so sweet and her work is AMAZING. She and her husband just moved to California - so I'm not sure if she would be charging travel fees now. For our wedding photographer, we're having Kjeldm Photography. Also amazing work - you can see a ton on his facebook page. Good luck!
I recommend Alicia, from Alicia Renee Photography!!! She shot my wedding last weekend and is amazing - so amazing and incredibly nice!
Alicia is from NH, but our wedding was in Woburn and Cambridge...so I'm sure she can do North Shore.
If you have facebook, check out our photos here - these are not all of them though!

We have Heather Parker http://www.heatherparker.com. I am a North Shore bride getting married in RI and found her through a search on Boston photographers after seeing photos of my venue. She has a lot of north shore weddings I know just from bookmarking her facebook page. Smith Barn in Brooksby Farm and Crane Estate on Castle Hill the ones I have bookmarked in my weddings folder just for ideas. Another North shore option is Dan Doke whos pictures we really liked. Before we met with anyone we checked the reviews on yelp and wedding wire.
I totally feel you! I was so overwhelmed by all the photographers, pricing, albums, and all that goes along with it. I booked David Barnes, he made me feel really comfortable when we met in person, I love his photos, and when his sample album was my friend's sisters wedding, I was sold! PM me if you want any more info! I found choosing a photographer to be the hardest decision so far!
@ama2011: we have her too! I have the blog too and can never remember the program to get blogs on my computer so I don't check it as often as I should. I saw your link today and saw those fog pictures. i hope we get weather like that for our wedding. It will be too late for the leaves I bet though.
I have to agree with luli29.
Alicia does incredible work!

P.S. Check out her boudoir sessions too! ; )
Okay thanks to WB my photog spreadsheet is AMAZING right now. :) You guys rock!
Ok so I am going through all the recs - I have Mark Andrew Photography on my list but can't figure out who recommended him because he's not on here.. anyone know of his work?
I second Avocado's suggestion of Meredith at &Unlimited. She was one of the photographers at our wedding and LOVE does not begin to describe it. She is seriously awesome.
Hi ladies! I'm a MA bride tooo...and seriously, it's been very difficult to pick a photographer! We have met with two, and we have two more to go. There is so much information out there. What is the range that everyone is spending? Anything would help! I don't even have a ceremony site yet. Coming along!!
Our photographer (a very close friend) went to photography school in Boston (New England School of Photography).
She interned for Krista Photography and their work is BEAUTIFUL!
Also, if my friend's professional etiquette and photography skills are any indication of what she learned while interning, they will certainly not disappoint.
