I tried on two dresses back in July, and put down a deposit on one of them, but I am still not sure which one to go for. the first dress I love because it looks elegant and classic from the front, but the back is really special. what’s putting me off is that a few people have commented that it’s very plain from the front and they don’t like the neckline, and it is way over my initial budget.
the second dress is not something I had in mind at all, but when I saw it on the hanger I had to try it on. it’s half the price of the first dress, and well within budget. the problem is that it’s not as unique as the first dress, and I feel it’s a little over the top? I don’t want to look like I’m playing dress up.
we’re having quite a small wedding, the theme is movies (mostly tim burton as it will be near halloween) and this is how the ceremony room will be set up:
I’d really love some opinions, thanks!

Both dresses are stunning. I don’t think the first dress is too plain in front. It’s gorgeous!
When I saw your pictures of your venue, I thought the 2nd dress would look wonderful in it!

I think #1 is absolutely GORGEOUS. I think the neckline definitely needs a statement necklace of something — but I think that (when it’s altered) it’ll be much more flattering and unique than dress #2!

@erial: The back of the first one is phenomenal. I think maybe the first dress is a little too big for you and once it is fitted it it will look better

@erial: Dress one is boring in the front. The back is nice, but you cant just walk around backwards all day.
The second one is gorgeous! It looks stunning on you and I think it fits your venue very nicely.

Omg there is NO comparison… Dress #1!!!!

@shortie1848: you’re right, the sample of the first dress was about 3 sizes too big for me, it was pinned at the back. when it’s fitted it’s supposed to look more like this:

@erial: I love dress 1! The proper fit makes a world if difference like in the model pic you posted. Totally classic- with that updo I immediately thought Breakfast at Tiffany’s! Beautiful:)

@erial: I think it is gorgeous! I’m a little sad that I could never pull something like that off. Promise you’ll post an update of you in this dress.

I absolutely LOVE dress 1!!!

@erial: That #1 is great. NO NECKLACE, the back has the necklace.
But if you are worried about the money, dress #2 looks lovely on you.

You’ve already put some money down on the first one and it fits with your style. Keep going with it and stop shopping. There will always be something else out there that catches your eye.

#1!!! Its GORGEOUS and will look amazing once its fitted. No necklace though – the back is statement enough.
I love your ceremony setup!

I actually love, love, love dress #2. The tulle is just so romantic and fits in with your slightly haunting-dreamy wedding theme.
