Okay Bees, my fiance and I have been going nuts over our decision of where to honeymoon. Thankfully we started really early with the process to give us time to choose. I have included two options below, tell me which you think is best and maybe why!
Option 1: Belize
7 night trip – 3 nights at Chaa Creek and 4 nights at Victoria House.
At Chaa Creek we would have the honeymoon adventure package. We would be in a cottage and it includes a trip to the Belize Zoo, all meals, candle light dinner, massage, sunset canoe, and one adventure.
At Victoria House we would get breakfast but thats all that is included.
The total cost for this trip is: approximately $5700
Option 2: Costa Rica
8 night trip – 4 nights at Punta Islita and 4 nights at El Silencio Lodge and Spa
At Punta Islita we would have a Suite with Jacuzzi and breakfast.
At El Silencio Lodge we would have a Suite with all meals.
Our travel agent is looking into adding honeymoon extras, but we can add a massage and a private dinner for around $300.
The total cost for this trip is: approximately $4964
We love both options. We really wanted to go to Belize but when the travel agent presented us with this Costa Rica option we fell in love with that too. We just do not know! Both locations offer many adventureous activities for us to do so that does not help us decide.
Bee’s let me know what you would do!!!!!!

If there are similar activities, I would judge it based on what the extra cost for Costa Rica adventures that are included in the Belize one. Either one sounds amazing! I want to go to either of those countries sometime!!

The extra day alone would sell me

I am bias because I have been to Belize and its amazing! 🙂 That’s my vote. I do want to go to Costa Rica too, but honestly would probably go BACK to Belize before going to CR.

It seems like the Belize package offers more included adventures (plus the massage!) at least at Chaa. The Costa Rica package offers an additional day and has a cheaper price. Either package would mean purchasing lunch and dinner for four days. How much would it cost to purchase meals for those four days?
Otherwise, I would go with the Belize package since it seems to include more bang for your buck.

@beachbride1216: With our rough estimats and calculations we think Belize would be a TOTAL cost with food and activities $7124 and Costa Rica would be $7064.
So the price works out in Costa Rica’s favor.
I think Costa Ricas rooms are nicer as well, more luxorious.

I’ve been to both Belize (as a spring break trip in college) and Costa Rica (with Fiance as a summer vacation).
For your ‘beach’ stay: The beaches in Guancanaste, Costa Rica are much better than Belize. However, snorkeling & scuba diving are amazing near Ambergris Caye, much much better than that part of Costa Rica. But you can go surfing in that part of Costa Rica and not in Belize! Belize has much more of a Caribbean feel than Costa Rica. Ambergris Caye is very easily walkable to other restaurants & hotels. It’s a very small island. The resorts in that part of Costa Rica are a bit more isolated, and you’ll have to take a cab or drive if you want to leave the resort. Depends on what you are looking for out of your honeymoon. If you want to sit by the hotel pool/beach all day and go on a adventure tour once or twice, I’d recommend Guancanaste! If you want to go diving/snorkeling and drink rum punches and bar hop, try Belize 🙂
For the ‘rain-forest’ stay: I took a quick look at El Silencio’s website, and it sort of looks like it’s in the middle of no where. You are fairly far from Arenal, where the volcano and really good ziplines & waterfalls are, and not close to Monteverde, which has the awesome cloud forest. So I can’t really comment on that. I would much rather stay in a resort at either Arenal or Monteverde. I haven’t stayed there, but have heard that Chaa Creek in Belize is suppose to be amazing. You’ll probably do a Mayan ruins tour in Belize which I loved, not sure if that’s your thing though!
Either way, you can’t go wrong!!!

If it was me, I would go to Belize!

Costa Rica, no question! A good friend of mine went there with his boyfriend for a wedding in March. The photos he posted….WOW! That sums it up. He said it was gorgeous, probably one of the nicest places he’s ever been (and he’s travelled a lot).
Plus, one extra day and it’s still cheaper? Can’t go wrong.

I appreciate all of the feedback! I’m still trying to decide so more feedback would be awesome! I’ll let everyone know what we choose when we make our decision!!
