I think Asia sounds awesome! We're thinking maybe Paris and maybe Rome for our honeymoon. Paris for sure, anyway.

@6598731ssfse3:  Paris is amazing. I also reccomend taking the train to Lyon for a few days which is just as amazing but a little less busy and touristy.

@MissFireFlower:  I LOVE new york. Cruise from New Orleans to Mexico if you can do it that way and spend a few days there. New Orleans is one of the most romantic places I've ever been to.

@bretonvirgniia:  It was and it wasn't, we had over three weeks for it so 5 nights Singapore, 2 nights in KL, 1 in Langkawi (we were mostly on a stopover on the way to Koh Lipe), 5 nights on Koh Lipe, 7 nights in Hua Hin and 2 nights in Bangkok. Lots of moving around but a lot of lounging in between.

If I only had 2 weeks, I would have done Singapore, Koh Lipe and Bangkok, I think. I LOVED the hotel in Hua Hin but the city itself is very "meh".

    I hate cruises.

I lived in Chile for 7 months and it's super cool, but you have to travel quite a bit to see all the different cool aspects (Patagonia, Torres del Paine, Chiloe, the Atacama, etc).  The Spanish is also very difficult to understand compared to most of Latin America.

I voted Asia!  I've traveled through Thailand and Laos, and it was the best travel experience of my life!  (And I've done quite a lot.)  It's really cheap (once you get there), absolutely beautiful, the culture is so different and interesting, the food is ridiculously tasty, and the people are soooooooo friendly and helpful.  I would highly recommend the island of Koh Phanghan (kinda near Koh Samui).  Don't go to the Half Moon beach but some of the quieter beaches on the island.  Enough adventure, swimming, sun bathing, eating and drinking, and making friends to last a lifetime!

Not sure what we're doing yet, but we're spending 2.5 week in Nicaragua this January as a pre-moon.  And no, I am not wealthy at all, I just looooove travel and priorize it ;)

@lolot:  If you ever go back, I'd recommend Koh Lipe as somewhere a bit off the beaten track with amazing beaches and stunning coral reefs. You don't get as many idiots as you do on Koh Phanghan.

@lolot:  I haer ya. We are middle-class at best but we travel 5-6x per year. Part of it is because we both have IATA cards and get significantly reduced travel rates BUT we also value travel over going out, buying clothes, etc. Investing in the memories and bonding experiences you get from travelling is PRICELESS!

Thailand seems like a good option but our honeymoon will be october so it will be rain, rain and more rain :(

Nicaragua sounds amazing by the way.

@inky_1:  We're off to France (and Belgium) next summer. We'd been talking about it for a while but I've sneakily bought DH tickets for the Belgian Grand Prix for a Christmas present so we'll be planning around that.

    @SpecialSundae:  Fun! :)

I'm super excited. I studied French and the French culture from 7th grade into college! I have never been to Europe. I can't wait! And, I'm Christmas-obsessed, so we might go the first week of December instead of in October, but we'll see.

@inky_1:  I just got back from France and I have to say that the weather in October was amazing! Especially near the coast and in the mountains (Lyon). Paris was winter jacket weather but not bad at all.

Christmas would be amazing in France!

    Enjoy :)

@SpecialSundae:  I find the issues I have with the culture overtakes my desire to visit India and most of the middle east. No i don't think they are terrorists or anything radical like that...it's more a womens rights and atheist thing.

I do not think that India would quite enjoy my culture either :) Walking around dressed as I please with a million tattoos would not be wildly accepted..(maybe in dubai but not very many other places).

    Also. Two words...Ganges River *barf*

@bretonvirgniia: Oh goodness... Yes, I can't cope with the Ganges. I've managed to pretty much avoid it.

I've been to India twice and there was an enormous change in the 8 years between my trips. The treatment of women is still a work in progress, but it is precisely that.

Being an atheist really isn't an issue (I am and it's much less of an issue in India than in the USA) and clothes and tattoos aren't really an issue for anyone other than yourself (although I found it easier staying covered for sun safety reasons as much as anything).

@SpecialSundae:  Thanks for the Thai beach recommendation.  I SOOO hope to get back there!  FI hasn't been.  We totally stayed off the Full Moon beach on Koh Phanghan so it was a wonderful experience, luckily.  (We also got a $25 flight from Bangkok because it was the day after the Full Moon Party - sweet!)

@bretonvirgniia:  Good luck, sounds like you have lots of exciting options!

@SpecialSundae:  My thoughts are that I would most likely get verbally harassed by locals for being tattooed... I mean it happens all over the world but I have a feeling it would be worse there. USA (especially the bible belt...northern USA) was brutal in the summer with staring and pointing at me in the summer. :|. Cuba is one of the worst places for that too.

I just never ever had any desire to visit the middle east. I would visit northern africa but that's about as close as I would get.

@bretonvirgniia:  Oh, you'd be harrassed, but no more than any tourist and it's mostly kids asking for small change or a pen. I blew my top in one town and yelled at a bunch of boys trying to get me to talk to them the day after my granny died (I was in India and the death was sudden)... I didn't hear a peep from anyone the rest of the day.

Don't get me wrong, it was horrible at times and hard going but I still want to go back. Apparently Kerala and the south are much more easy-going (I've only ever visited Mumbai and the North).

@VanIsleGal:  Morroco is 100% on my list too. We were supposed to last month but the flights became to expensive! Was thinking if I do a med cruise, I could make a pit stop in morocco! Good call.
