Wow…  Based on this and the thread before though, it sounds like a blessing to me.  Their communication was terrible and they seem to have blindsided you with restrictions at the last minute.

If you really, really want to work with them still, I would email them and tell them that.  You are less than a year from your date.  Tell them you’ve made other contracts around theirs, and assumed financial liability based on their signing of a contract with you.  Tell them your guests have made non-refundable arrangements based on their legally executed contract.  Express your frustration at the poor communication and miscommunications over the tasting, but reiterate that you still want to get married there.

Good luck!

@abbie017:  This. I really can’t think of anything else to say other than definitely tell them that nowhere in your contract does it say that they can cancel for any reason. I agree that this really sounds like a blessing, but since you’re less than a year away and have already booked other vendors…argh.

I really hope you get this all worked out. I suggest looking for another venue, as well. I know that you really like this place, but better safe than sorry.

After their behaior I would take this as a blessing. At a year out you still have a lot of options, and I’m sure if you explain to your other vendors what happened they work with you.

No matter how stunning and great the place is, do you honestly think you can trust these people with your wedding? I say take the money and run as fast you can and don’t look back.
