@futuremrswucher: Well I am not a TX bride but I wrestled with the same thing between October & September (but my venue actually goes DOWN in price after September) but when I did some soul searching I realized its more important to me to be WARM and drink cold drinks than be COLD and wish I could just cuddle into a blanket instead of drinking and dancing the night away...
My vote is for September 9th ~ Yes people might be warm but you'll have plenty of cold drinks and the sun will be down so it can't be that bad and it will be a great party! If they can't handle the heat, they can chill inside with the dessert table but I think the beauty of an outdoor venue would be wasted if everyone was inside all the time...
Hope I helped! ;)
i vote september.. september 9th is a good day,. my youngest was born on that day :)
I had the same choice to make and I chose warm over cold, but it really depends on which weather you like best. As long as you have relief for your guests (cold drinks, possible fans, indoor air conditioning), then I wouldn't worry about it too much.
I live in Austin too and I can't remember the last time it was even remotely cold on Halloween so I would go with the October date. My birthday always falls on labor day weekend and we usually go to the lake because it is still so hot! I am having an outdoor ceremony/indoor reception in November and am not concerned about it being too cold.
I'm from Louisiana and I would go with October...I think September would be too hot to even consider!!! It hasn't even dropped out of the 90s usually (where I'm from) in September. October at least you have the possibility that it will be in the 70s-80s!
Thanks everyone! We had to go with november 4 since our venue booked up so quick. It should be beautiful!!!

So my fiance and I are having an outdoor wedding in Austin, TX. We are looking at 2 dates. September 9 and Oct 21, 2012. The problem is, the entire thing will be outside and I want to hear from others if you think its safer to go earlier in September and risk heat or later in October and risk cold. The wedding will start at 5:30 which means the sun is almost down and the entire reception will be at night. There is also an indoor area where the cake, photobooth and candy table will be. Guests can go inside for part of the night as well.
Our venue goes up $700 after September. I do not mind paying the extra fee for the Oct. 21 date if everyone thinks early September will be too hot and Oct. 21 will be a better temp. However, I can't imagine paying more and it being just too cold to enjoy. Which date do you think will beat the rain better also?
Thanks bees!
