Did they spell out the kind you need and what it should cover? We have it and its pretty cheap, but is based on the coverage amount you want. We used Wedsafe. You can get a quote really easily by going to their website.
I was going to mention Wedsafe too, we plan on using them and its only going to cost us about 175 bucks for coverage up to a million dollars. It was an unexpected cost, but I guess it's good to have.
If you want good responses you should provide more detail. What type of insurance? What 'rule' did the state change?
I have honestly never heard of wedding insurance. Why do you need it?
We had the exact same situation arise 3 days before our wedding with the State because our wedding was on a beach (never mind that it was specifically NOT a state beach park!) !e got a wedsafe policy that had $500K in coverage for $75 and it was no problem - their website is easy and quick. To be honest, I didn't even read the policy or what it covered. They required it, so I got it. Less stress that way, especially so close to the wedding!
if you are a home-owner or have renters insurance you might be able to add it on as a rider...it is pretty normal though and since its a state park there might not be much you can do.
There's not much you can do since the State changed the rules. Don't freak about the policy. You can get a cheap one by only insuring the venue and nothing else. It shouldn't cost you too much, and the other ladies have provided you with their recommendations on a vendor for it.
the cheapest i have found based on their requirements is $175. that is 1/2 of our honeymoon spending money. I'm so sad right now. I know that might not seem like a lot to some people but with all the little last minute add ons i don't know what we are going to do. the flight is non refundable for our honeymoon so if we don't go we are just out the money, but at this rate we will barely be able to buy food! Also- parents can't help with money. mine don't have it and his won't. Adding it through our renters policy came in at $315.

Help bees! I just got an email from the lady at my reception venue (run by a state park) she says the state changed the rules and we need insurance. WTF?
1) our wedding is in 40 days!
2) this is NOT mentioned anywhere in our contract!
So in a panic I called my insurance agent and asked for a quote and now I am stressed and hitting refresh on my email every 5 seconds.
Should I fight them on this?
Make them lower the rental cost ($1300!!)??
just pay it?
does anyone know what it costs?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
