I’m a bridesmaid in a wedding coming up soon, and I’m trying to decide what color nail polish goes with the dress. This isn’t the dress, but it’s the exact same color and the dress is also long. My skin tone is on the darker side, so very dark colors and very light colors don’t look right on my nails. I’m thinking of wearing black strappy sandles, or maybe silver sandals. Any advice will be appreciated (on nail polish and shoes)! Thanks!

The first nail polish that popped into my mind is Bite the Bullet by wet and wild. I love this color and the formula lasts for awhile (and it’s super cheap!)
For the shoes, something like a dark silver or pewter would look nice, like around this color
Edit: Holy huge pictures Batman! Sorry, I can’t figure out how to resize them on the iPad…

chemistryBee: Thanks! I think the silver shoes would go well. I went back to the David’s Bridal site, and almost all their dresses in this color are shown with silver shoes, so maybe that’s the way to go.
That’s a really pretty nail color! I was worried about going with a purple shade- will it look too matchy matchy if it matches perfectly? And if it doesn’t match, will it look like I tried to make it match and failed?

I think a medium gray would be nice:

If you go for purple, I wouldn’t try to match it exactly, I would pick something in either the lighter or darker shade family.
Here’s a nice purple-y gray:

i think gray would look nice also. and i might add a glittery top coat just for fun 🙂

lilchicana: TheGridMonster: I love the purply-gray. Very pretty! I think I’ll try for either that or something in a darker gray. Thanks for the tips, guys!

You could always just go with a nude nail. When is the wedding? Idnsay do a silver/light grey if it’s in the fall, or look into OPI you don’t know Jacques that would look stunning. If it’s spring or summer you could do a light pink or white? What are the brides other colors and your bouquet? Anything you can pull from there?

I prefer more nude shades – I just think it lends a more elegant vibe and that is a lovely dress. Samoan sand by OPI is a good nude shade for people with darker skin tones. I’m olive skinned and like that one on me.

I love and wear this one from Sally Hanson. It’s called Gilty Party.

If you like gel nails, this is one of my favorite colors that goes well with lilacs, grays, etc. It’s Gelish Princess Tiara:

BWLE: The wedding is in Sept.so the fallish colors will work.
I’m thinking of going with a shade of purple, either the purpley-gray or a darker purple so I don’t completely clash with the dress or maybe a shade of pink.
BWLE: Lollybags: Never thought of nude shades- I’ll have to look into that! Might be a nice option for me in general.
Brielle: Love the metallic vibe on that one!
MrsYokiman: Very pretty! I saw some gel nailpolishes in the store, but I have no idea what to do with them. Is it just like normal nailpolish, or is it part of a multi-step process?
Thanks to everyone for all your great suggestions! I’m going to test out a few of these options with the dress and see what works the best!

A white french tip goes well with anything 😉
