I have 9 bridesmaids all wearing gray. I have a picture of their dresses attached. My dress is a champagne color. My colors for the wedding are gray, tan and white. It is an outdoor wedding in a vineyard with the reception in a barn.
Now the hard question… What do the groomsmen and the groom wear?? I originally wanted gray tux’s for the guys until I found these georgeous gray dresses for the girls. If I have my girls in gray, and the guys in gray, is that too much? Or would the guys in tan tux’s look better? I am really trying to stay away from the black tux.
And what is the difference between a tux and a suit?!?! I don’t see a difference. Can you rent suits? I am stuck! HELP!

First off, my BMs are wearing the same dresses in midnight blue! Back to your question, if you’re trying to stay away from black, I’d probably go with tan suits b/c gray might be difficult to match shades. I’m generally not a fan of tuxes in colors other than black. Tuxes are more formal than suits, and I think for a vineyard/barn wedding, suits would be more appropriate. Maybe just take your Fiance to Mens Wearhouse and see what you like on him.

@asdf: Thanks!! (Don’t you love those dresses?! Wish i was getting one! Haha!) Can you rent suits from Men’s Wearhouse?

I wouldn’t get Grey, it would be too matcy matchy.

i wouldn’t do grey unless it was a contrasting one like charcoal – too hard to match and it would probably be overload. a way to think about the difference is tuxes are generally for the evening and formal events while suits are for the day and work. judging by your name, i’m guessing it’ll be a more casual affair so i’d do suits or slacks with a dress shirt (sleeves rolled up) and a vest.

I think a Navy would go nicely. Other than that, good ‘ol black.
No tan, beige or brown though.

I would go with black suits. Tux would be too formal I think. I’m not sure how tan suits would look with grey Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses.

I defintely wouldn’t do grey – that is just too much monotone plus the gray probably wouldn’t match. I also think tuxes are a bit formal for how you describe you wedding.
I’d do either navy or black suits!

My BMs are wearing those dresses also! I love them 🙂
I think I would do black suits also maybe with a gray tie. You can rent suits from some places but I am not sure about Men’s Wearhouse.

I would do black or a dark charcoal. I think that would look great against the grey bridesmaid dresses!

No way on the tan. I agree, black or a charcoal gray. Suits can be worn again and every man could use a good black or charcoal gray suit in their wardrobe. I would lean towards charcoal gray.

I think my girls are wearing those too in one of the purples! Love them.
I cannot even imagine a tan tux. But I would go with black or charcoal for the guys. I also advocate suits too unless it’s super formal.

Thanks so much for all your answers! This helps so much, I just can’t picture anything. I may have to suck it up and get black…. if anyone else has any ideas, please let me know! Thanks!!

I love the suggestion of charcoal. But I think you can’t go wrong with black. A tan tux? I really don’t know about that. A tan suit, fine. But a tux should not be tan.
