Ok Bees.. So I am in search for the perfect honeymoon spot, I need help!
I want a spot that has awesome (clean & beautiful) beaches where I can relax and drink all the frozen drinks my heart desires, but also have plenty of fun activities that me and my fiancé can do such as snorkeling, diving, riding horses, etc.
I can do long plane rides so it has to be semi reasonable, around 5 hours
I am looking into the USVI or BVI, any suggestions on the best location/ hotel/ beach? Someone even told me Bermuda was awesome and only a 2 hour flight! Any thoughts?!
Any opinions on all inclusive vs. not?
I also don’t want to have to take out a loan to pay for a vacation so I don’t want it too $$$$..
Any suggestions would be much appreciated 🙂

I’d recommend all-inclusive because it’s more fun and less stress. Everything is done for you, you don’t have to worry about going out to buy food. Just sit back and relax, enjoy yourself.
My Fiance and I chose an all-inclusive in Jamaica at a 5-star hotel. You can do just about everything you mentioned, but I have also heard the same about Bermuda. I am sure you’d have a great time in Bermuda.

@rachaelp: Couples Negril. Meets most, if not all, of your criteria.
Edit: just now read that you want to go a specific location. Oops. If you wanted to go to Jamaica I still recommend couples 🙂

I’ve never been to an all-inclusive so I have no opinions on that, but I do agree that Bermuda is amazing! I’ve always had the best time there every time I’ve gone.

I’d just go to Riviera Maya in Mexico, to be honest. So many adults-only all-inclusives and that place is crazy gorgeous.

st thomas- us virgin island has the wyndham all inclusive resort- it was beautiful we did that last may(2011) we did st lucia this july-stayed at body holiday at la sport- its all inclusive as well.
i enjoyed body holiday because spa treatments were included.. we stayed 7 days 6 nights at la sport- we booked through costco travel– it was bout 5600 for the two of us we flights hotels and taxi to and from the resort- 100 dollar credit per person for a non inclusive spa treatment and 100 dollar credit per person for a tour thingy.
we booked both trips through costco.. i cant remember how much the trip in 2o11 costs.. but i think it was couple hundred less…
i am sure your package would be cheaper since you wont have to fly to the west coast to east coast and then south.

Riviera Maya is pretty inexpensive and there are a lot of all-inclusive adults only resorts as PP mentioned. The Virgin Islands will be a lot more expensive. Depending upon when you go, you can go to a really nice all-inclusive for $2K a person. If you go to a middle of the road one, you might be able to do it for 2K total in the off-season (including flight). Take a look at applevacations.com
Also, there is a lot to do in Riviera Maya compared to a lot of other places.

any of the couples resorts in jamaica. we are going to the most expensive one next Dec and 7 nights ended up being $3010 (not including airfare). it includes a fully stocked in room bar, all food and drinks, transportation to and from the airport, scuba diving, snorkling, catamerans, skiing, etc, tips and taxes. we also got a $300 resort credit for booking. You can also add extra excursions like swimming with dolphins or zip lines for a price. and….no kids.

We just booked ours at the Aura Grand Resort in Cozumel. It is the only Adults-only All- inclusive hotel on the island. We were looking for a place where Fiance could dive and since he has already dove the Great Barrier Reef twice, this is the closest 2nd. There are tons of things to do on the island and there is a dive shop on the beach of the resort offering, jet skiing, parasailing, fishing trips, snorkeling and diving trips, and other things. We debated on Riviera Maya but Cozumel seemed to be more laid back and not as crowded.

I’ve heard Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic have fairly resonably priced, nice all inclusive resorts.

I’d throw in a recommendation for the Cayman Islands, as well, if you’re into watersports. Great snorkeling & diving!
The BVIs are my favorite place in the world, but can be really expensive. If you find a great deal though, definitely go there! And make sure to get a picture of the two of you at The Baths on Virgin Gorda if you go! So romantic..

Thanks so much for the advice ladies 🙂 I have so much research to do now!!!

We JUST got back from our honeymoon in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and it was phenomenal! We stayed at an all-inclusive and did tons of fun excursions like you mentioned. Also, Dominican Republic was far less expensive when compared to other Caribbean destinations.

Another vote for Couples in Jamaica. Has pretty much everything you’re looking for I think. We LOVED it there.

it really depends on your budget. i would highly suggest an all-inclusive and an adults only 5 star resort. jamaica, mayan riviera, dominican republic and cuba are all much cheaper than the usvi or bvi.
i’ve been to a lot of them and personally for the same price, i would rather take 2 weeks at the less expensive islands over 1 week at the super expensive islands. the beaches can be very similar.
