I went dress shopping today. I originally wanted to try on the Mori Lee Julietta 3143 dress but the sample was 2 sizes too small so the fit wasn’t fantastic and I actually hated the dress on me. I felt like a bauble. So, the consultant asked me to try something different on, an a-line. This dress was 2 sizes smaller too but made me look slimmer. I love the shape (FYI it’s Benjamin Roberts 2401).
But I’ve fallen in love with the Mori Lee 2690 dress in ivory, which is similar.
The Julietta dress looked terrible on me so they held it up to me to compare it to the a-line dress. Which do you prefer? And do you think the 2690 style would suit just as well?
Please bare in mind these dresses are too small in size and too short as I am over 5ft10″, so the dresses would hit the floor completely and cover my socks!
Thank you for any help!

Oh you are going to look beautiful! Can I have some of your height?? Lol
i honestly think its a great start but I think you should keep looking around. I dont like that first silhouette on you much. The 2nd looks great but I think you need something “more”. Something is just off about that one.
I too, being plus size found it so hard and frustrating not being able to try on the ones I really liked in bridal stores. I even ordered one not being able to try it on thinking it was the one. I cried when it came in, I hated it on me so much.
if you have one around you, find one that specializes in plus sizes or go to a David’s bridal. I was very leary but OMG that had a ton in my size and made my shopping experience so much easier and happier. I was able to try on 10 different dresses.
I think you should keep looking.

floss5492: I say keep looking! With your height, you have so many more options than the rest of us short stacks, lol. I don’t feel like either of those gowns show off your curves enough.

The aline is very flattering and I love the morI lee you are lusting after. I think you need to try on more alines with different fabrics, too. You’re going to find the right ine for you! Watch out with the waist line since you are so tall, ( lucky you) that it isn’t too high on you. I would love,to see you try on a more structured dress than the first two to emphasize your curves.

Some designers will do a loan program, like I know Essense of Australia does, where if a girl makes an appointment and the store does not have the dress or the correct size they will get it just for the day for you to try on. You could ask some boutiques if that is an option so you can try dresses in your size.

I agree you should keep looking, but find a place that has the 2690 so you can try it on. If you can’t find a try on, you can order one from wedding shoppe inc online and return it if you hate it for a small restocking fee.
Where do you live? Can you find a plus size bridal boutique nearby? I’m plus size too and drove to another state just so I could try on a ton of dresses. It was well worth the trip!
