I don't want to get a dress that will make me hate my wedding photos in the future.
I haven't voted yet, but based on your "pros/cons" it seems like you probably prefer the ball gown one - I think they both are beautiful. But, you are right that the trumpet dress shows off your figure better. Trust your gut! You can't go wrong!
I think the 2nd dress is more becoming on you. I am not sure why you wouldn't like it in 10 years, as I think it is modern but not overboard. Plus it may be nice to not be so matchy matchy with the BP.
Good Luck deciding!
This may be the pictures, but the detail at the waist of the Saison Blanche (trumpet) dress makes your torso look longer and thus your legs shorter. Because of that it makes you look overall shorter. Do you have really long legs and a short torso? I do so I'd understand if you wanted a dropped waist or the detail being lower. I just can't tell from the pictures which is why I ask. I like the fact that the Judd Waddell (ballgown) dress has the belt at your natural waist because it emphasizes your tiny waist more. I also think it looks better on you from the back. It gives you more of a feminine shape - more of an hourglass figure. The sash also looks great with your hair color. It works on many levels...It's fabulous.
What is your gut saying? When you have them both on, which one makes you feel more like a bride? Which one makes you smile inside????
I think (just personally) that the sash on the first one needs to go. Without it, I love it. The second one elongates your figure, but I really like the first one the best. Can you perhaps have a seamstress convert the Judd Waddell into a corset back so it shows off your figure a little more if that's what you want? I originally wanted a trumpet like that, and decided it didn't "feel" like a wedding dress. I got a dropped slim fit A-line. Best of both worlds for me. Looking back, I'm glad I went with something a little more traditionally weddingy. But if you think your guy would go with dress #2, that's something to consider! Since you already HAVE both dresses, you could do a change...wear the ballgown for your ceremony, the other one for your reception?! Really, you love them both so much, right? And you already paid for them!!!! And Judd WAddell and Saison Blanche aint' cheap.
I do have long legs....
I think I feel more like a bride in the ballgown, but just can't get past how great the trumpet looks on me!
THANK YOU ejs4y8!! I think I'm going to be going to the seamstress ASAP to see if she can create a more dropped waste corset top on the judd waddell. I think she can just take in the dress more toward the bottom of the bodice and it should help create the look I think i'm looking for in that gown....
I have also thought about doing the wardrobe change...and it is definitely still an option! I just want to make sure i'm 100% sure I don't want to wear the saison blanche for the entire wedding....and it just make its appearance at the reception...because it deserves its day in the spot light as well...both are just so gorgeous in their own way!
Thank you all for your input! Please keep the comments coming!! I need all the advice I can get to make this decision!!
Thank you all for your comments. So i tried on both gowns again this evening after i got home from work and I think I have made my decision. Even though the votes are in and the ballgown won i have actually decided to wear the Saison Blanche trumpet skirt for the ceremony and reception! I love both gowns but I am going with my first choice of the more modern gown because that is what I originally wanted, but was afraid I would miss out on the traditional gown look. But after i tried them both on again I realized the saison blanche is more me and I want to feel like me on that day, not the princess that i was hoping to feel like in the ballgown.
Thank you for all your comments! They all helped me through this tough decision!!! I love the wedding bee and all you bees!! :)
I'm glad you made up your mind. You couldn't have gone wrong. . . they are both beautiful on you! Congrats!
YAY!!! That's so beautiful on you! Both are very pretty, and the trupet skirt really isn't all that modern if you look into some Grace Kelly photos! It's timeless if you ask me! And I think the coloring of the ball gown looked a little more like fall with the darker champagne sash... my past bridal shop experience is starting to kick in!
All the best to you!
Congrats on your decision! I actually voted for the trumpet skirt gown, and I'm sure you'll look amazing!
I think when you look back on your wedding pics in 10 years, you might think one or two things look dated (we all will!), but what you'll remember most is how beautiful you felt and how happy you were. Focus on those feelings. :)
I'm glad that you picked the trumpet skirt dress, because that's the one I would have chosen! I think you'll look gorgeous!
I would have to say I love the back of the first one...but the 2nd one looks fabulous on you!!
WAHOO!! Good for you-- I was going to vote for the SB....YOU look stunning in it =) I'm glad you found the one that makes you happiest!
I'm personally wearing a trumpet skirt gown as well and I absolutely love it! I just feel more me in it as well! And honestly from your pictures you look more confident and comfortable in the trumpet. It show off your figure beautifully! Congrats on deciding!
I'd say the one that you're most comfortable wearing. If you were to look back in 10 years, would you still like both of them?
Yay! I'm glad you picked the second one. It looks FABULOUS on you. I WISH I could wear something like that!! :)
glad you picked the 2nd one. you should go with what makes you feel most gorgeous, not which one is the best opportunity to wear a pouffy skirt :D
Thanks for all of the comments of reassurance that I chose the right one! :) I am very happy with my decision still and I know I made the right choice! I can't wait to wear it on my wedding day! It is definitely nice to here words of reassurance though!!
i think the trumpet one is much more slimming and flattering. it will also be easier to move around in at the reception.
i think the second one is more flattering. dont worry about how you'll feel in 10 years - you never know! either way, you'll look gorgeous :)
Can I tell you my personal opinion, and don't get hurt feelings. I had a similar issue. When I first got engaged, a couple people said "I picture you in a figure hugging, boobs up, hugging your waist and butt, sexy dress." Even my fiance was like, yeah I want to see you in something that shows off your figure.
One day after being so confused I told a close friend of ours, she said, I want you to look like an angel and feel like a princess. It's your wedding day, not a day to show off boobs and butt!!!!!!
My fiance and I both realized that she was totally right. You want a dress that will make you feel and look like a princess. You will have plenty of other times to show off your figure, so I would go with the ball gown!
Not a lot of people have the figure for the trumpet style...but you look fabulous in it! I would definitely pick that one, if I were you.
I voted for #1 because I think it is more classic and not as trendy. I love #2 as well, but it is a very popular style and sillouette right now and it seems boring in my opinion compared with the first one.
i like the trumpet better...but wished the beading would be at the actual waist instead of a dropped waist...it would give you a cleaner, crisp look...and more timeless i think...the ball gown has that small waist that i really like....
I love the first dress on you! The ribbon makes your waist tiny and overall just a classic look.
The first one is GORGEOUS!
Personally I would say YES YES YES to the first. It's perfect! But that is just my personal taste... you need to choose the dress that makes you feel like a bride. The dress that you know you will be so happy you wore for that first kiss with your husband and for all the pictures that you will be pulling out to smile over for the next 50 years.
As for being sexy... you can do that on your wedding night :P
My thought is... be classy on your wedding day. You can can wear a form fitting dress for the honeymoon.. or any other time! No one will be looking at how form fitting and sexy you are at the wedding... they will just be thinking about how happy and beautiful you are.
So you've already purchased both? Maybe I misunderstood. If you've already bought both. Wear both. Wear one to the ceremony and then change for the reception. I'd say where the ball gown for the ceremony and feel like a princess and then change into the more sexy for the reception. People won't expect it. It would be a great twist.
This thread was for a June 2009 wedding, I'm sure the bride has made her decision and worn the dress of her choice by now :)
your figure looks 10 times better in the mermaid one. I can't believe so many people voted for the ballgown
sorry i don't like the weird shape to the back of the second dress, gives the effect that its on backwards - its like a back sweetheart? wtf?
I love the ball gown and you are right, maybe you will not have any other chance to wear a gown like these one.
LOVELOVELOVE the first one! It is so sweet and bridey! Hands down takes the gold for me.

So I am a loyal weddingbee reader and I highly value the advise you other bees offer so I'm coming to you for help. I am a TWO DRESS BRIDE and need help deciding which dress to choose. I have already purchased both of these dresses. They are completely different and I love them both for different reasons. I first bought the trumpet skirt on a day when i wanted to feel sexy and modern on my wedding day and I bought the ball gown on a day when I wanted to feel like a princess and more traditional. My ceremony is in a formal church setting, with a reception at a country club on the lake (so not ballroom formal, but still a sit down formal dinner).
Here are some things Ii Love and Don't Love about each of the dresses:
Judd Waddell Gown:
LOVE: Alacone lace bodice, full silk skirt, princess feeling, fun photos opts with big gowns, warm color (darker ivory), only get to wear this big of a gown once in your life! Champagne sash goes with champagne colors bridesmaid dresses (which are tea length with taupe sash)
Don't Love: Doesn't show off figure, makes me look shorter (i'm 5'7"), its actually a used gown (which i love and don't love at the same time...the dress has history, but also not a brand new dress just for me),
Saison Blanche:
LOVE: Sexy, shows off my figure (who knows how long that will last!), modern, sleek, swarvski crystal buttons down back, the bustle is gorgeous, makes me look like i have a bigger bust....and most importantly if my FI had a choice i think he would choose this one...but what guy wouldn't!
Don't Love: Not as comfortable, too trendy? won't like in 10 years, doesn't make me feel like a princess, no fun ball gown photos opts
Can you see my dilema? PLEASE HELP! I need opinions on which dress you all think I should wear!
THANKS!
