My dress is fairly simple, but elegant (ivory), it’s hard to see in the picture but it has a small pleated ruffle around the bust, same as the hem. I am going with a simple birdcage. Originally I wanted the Ebullient bolero from BHLDN, with some pearl accessories, but fairly simple since the bolero is pretty oppulent. Now that it is coming time to make some final choices about a jacket (October wedding), and I’ve been perusing jewelry I’ve come to a fork in the road. Should I stick with the original pearl encrusted jacket and keep the rest of the accessories simple, or go with something that makes more of a statement and just have a simple jacket? Any input, new ideas, thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I couldn’t get it to post the jacket link or one of the jewelry options below the dress so here they are…

I am very much in love with that bolero, and if looks were all that mattered, I would say get the jacket and simple jewelry. However, you have to take into account how delicate it’s going to be – would you be concerned about it all night? (I know I would!) Would you be missing pearls under the arms before you even take pictures? It is stunning, and if you’re confident that you won’t break out into a rash on the underside of your arms (so not attractive in photos….) then I would say YES to the bolero because it’s so beautiful and different! Otherwise I always love lace boleros, in which you could pair some statement jewelry with without looking like it’s “too much”. Or even a soft angora sweater bolero a la Kate Middelton would look stunning for an October wedding as well!

I loooove accessories. I love them so much that I know when to quit. That bolero is perfect with that dress and understated jewelry. I wouldn’t change a thing except to maybe highten the lipstick color during the reception if you’re not going to be wearing it. Or adding a funky cuff in the same occasion. For the photos at the church, I think it’s stunning and I would stick with understated elegance.

@ArmyWifey8.23: Those are really good points. My seamstress is going to be making me a modified version of this, sleeves a little longer, etc to better match the lines of my dress. So I’m not too worried about pearls falling off, but I will ask her about the armpits 🙂
@WillyNilly: Good idea on the lipstick and I am glad both of you really like this, I’m in LOVE with it

Hi. I am looking to purchase a BHLDN pearl bolero – and they are no longer offered at BHLDN. Let me know if you know anyone who might be willing to sell theirs!
