The aubergine color story will look stunning at you wedding. :) Have you considered perhaps a gold or other shade of metallic/neutral for the dresses? It would compliment the aubergine beautifully. We also have quite a bit of "sunset colors" throughout our wedding and decided to dress the girls in a beautiful pewter grey with a touch of shine. Best of luck to you!
@ostrich: Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately, My girls and I are in Washington state, where it rains all the time, and they are very pasty! hahaha, well we all are, metallics and neutrals are unfortunately colors we have to stay away from. I really like the idea of the grey. Only fear is it would be clash/be out of place with the ivory/pink ceremony.
Our colors are aubergine and champagne. I have the same problem with paleness (all of my bridesmaids and myself) so a neutral color was completely out of the question. We're compromising by getting aubergine dresses with champagne/beige sashes. Could you do something similar by choosing aubergine with an ivory detail or some variation of your colors? If you had a gray dress with aubergine sashes, they'd still match the wedding without blending in with the tables.
Have you looked into any medium shades of purple? I found a few dresses in colors like "victorian lilac" that were darker than lavender but not straight purple. They didn't have the blue undertones of most lavenders so they went better with our aubergine.
Hope you figure something out!
They can match the tablecloth, why not? Do what you love. The other color is fine, too. But, which color makes you happy?
I have the same colors...My bridesmaid will wear aubergine and grape dresses by Morilee (I found that Morilee aubergine dresses are not too dark as you can think, thats why choose grape color too)...I don't decide the color of my tablecloths yet...but I think that there's no problem that it match! ; )
I don't think the aubergine is a bad idea ("matching" the tablecloths, I mean). But, if you're uncomfortable with it, or your BMs are, do the lavender and perhaps tie the dress color in with the centerpieces or some other decoration in the reception. That could fix it.
I had my BM's wear silver (from David's Bridal) and carry dark purple/fushia boquets. I have similar colors to your. My BM's loved their dresses, very comfortable and wearable. One of them altered the dress to a tea-length and wears it with a white cardigan for dinner/parties.
Do you have to have aubergine tablecloths? Can't you have ivory tablecloths and aubergine decorations? That way the BMs don't clash with the tablecloths. But maybe they won't if the colors are an exact match. However, the BMs won't stand out with aubergine tablecloths.
I think that the deep purple is gorgeous, and I wouldn't worry about matching the tablecloths. I wouldn't think anything was strange about that as a guest.

Long story short, I am doing an enchanted forest themed wedding. My main color is aubergine (dark purple), ivory, and light pink. Essentially, the ceremony will be in the pink and white, cocktail hour decor will begin to have the dark purple, and reception under the white tent will have abundant aubergine (I'm planning on tablecloths being in this color). I'm completely stuck on the color of my bridesmaid dresses! I really really really dislike pink dresses! Of course they all tried on a dark purple dress - style happened to be in the color, and all looked stunning, but I don't want them to feel awkward walking into the reception, matching the tablecloths. It was suggested to me that I do lavender, which I'd be happy with, but its hard finding a lavender that will go with the aubergine color, and if I go with lavender my bridal party will be the only lavender part of the wedding. So is lavender ok? Should I go with a different color, and if so what other color? I've attached pics of the style of dresses I'm wanting in the aubergine color, and in a lavender shade for a frame of reference. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
