Now, I don't want to force the bridesmaids to buy the same shoes (I felt bad enough deciding what dress they should wear).

So I figured instead of telling them a specific shoe to buy, I'd tell them a general style (sandals) and a color.

My wedding colors are red (bridesmaid dresses) and pool blue (sash on my dress).  I was planning on having my shoes be silver.

I originally thought tan for their shoes, but I feel that will look silly with the silver.  And I feel like black is just to dark.

What do you guys think?  What color shoes would you go for with a red (kind of a reddish orange) dress?

Tan shoes that blend well with skin color always work with any color dress.  They help elongate the leg lines and is a muted enough color so it doesn't stand out.

Depending on the formality of the dresses, I think silver shoes would dress them up more.  I agree that tan shoes would go with anything, but my vote would be for silver.  Metallics are so in right now.  What girl wouldn't want a pair of silver sandals?  Some of them probably already own a pair anyways!

I also vote for silver.  I'm requesting that my bridesmaids wear the silver shoes of their choice with their teal dresses.  They are wearable again and go with everything!  Silver would look really cute with your red and pool blue dresses. And some of your girls might not have to buy new shoes if they already have cute silver heels.

Personally, I would never buy tan shoes for myself so I would probably never wear them again after being in a friend's wedding if that's what she asked me to wear.

I think it depends on the style of your wedding. If it's more formal I would definitly go with silver.

If you opt for tan, consider that there are many shades of tan and they may not all look the same. Also, if any of your bridesmaids are not tanned (in terms of skin color) it may look weird.
