Wow, I can't believe that they told you could do it yourself. Try to find just a day of cordinator, that's what they do. Don't give up, keep trying. I'm sure you'll find someone.
Do you live anywhere near a college where they have an event planning/ interior design course? If so, you could place an ad on a bulletin board at the college and hire a couple of students.
Even if your college doesn't have those courses, there will always be some competent students who would be glad for a few hours of work.

I have contacted wedding planners to help with setting up and taking down Day of my wedding so I don't have to worry about it and they all say what I am asking I can do myself!!!! I don't have anyone to help get my ceremony decorated and show the vendors where to deliver stuff and set up. I am getting married in a public park and am concerned people will mess with chairs and decorations any suggestions????
