My fiance and I are having our wedding/reception in his grandparents beautiful yard/garden, but I’ve run into problem with seating. My Maid/Matron of Honor was able to get me enough reception chairs for free, but I’m not sure what to do about the ceremony. And I do need seating, I don’t like the idea of making my guests stand. So I have a few options;
1. We know a few farmers who have already said we can borrow some hay bales if needed. My fiance likes the idea, but and I know I can cover them in cloth to make them more comfortable, but what about allergies? My Maid/Matron of Honor has hayfever so she won’t be able to even touch them, I’m not sure about being around them. Would the cloth help stifle allergies? And there will be disabled people who can’t get up and down easily.
2. The ceremony is just on the other side of the yard (and it’s a big yard, so that’s quite a ways) so I was considering just using the same chairs as from the reception. People will sit in them for half an hour, tops, but then they’ll have to wait for the bridal party to carry 125 chairs to the reception area. The guests could stand around and chat, mingle, get drinks, etc., which they’ll probably do anyway, but I still don’t like that idea.
3. I could rent another 125 chairs, but that’s a waste of money for just half an hour.
