- Wedding: June 2011
I kinda have a problem on my hands right now, and was wondering if I could get some adivce on how the make something work.
Okay so like a month and a half ago FI and I decided to make our own coasters as wedding favors. I got the tutorial from StyleMePretty.
Anyway I am using everything she used.
-The scrapbook paper
-The mode podge glue
The only thing that we got different was the waterproof sealer. It’s a spray on instead of the paint on kind she used.
The thing is her’s says polycrylic, and ours is acrylic. Is there a difference between polycrylic and acrylic? Because we did some of these coasters, let them dry for a day, and then sprayed the acrylic waterproof sealer over them and let that dry for a few hours. Anyway after that was done we stacked them ontop of eachother, because we figured they could be, because the tutorial shows them stacked on top of eachoter and tied with ribbon, which is what we were going to do. Well today me and FI went to go look at them and work on some, and the have begun to stick together, and the scrapbook paper is ripping and everything. We think it is because of the sealer. (We had to chuck like half of these away. 🙁 ) It’s impossible to not lay them ontop of eachother because we are inviting 80 people and each person is getting a set of 4 coasters. So that’s a lot of coasters to try and not stack on top of eachtoher, and I’m figuring they can be, and that we are just doing something wrong?
So if anyone has done this tutorial and can help I would appreciate it. Do I need to get the polycrylic stuff instead?
Oh and another thing is we are using corkboard for the bottom instead of the felt, but she says you can use the cork instead if you would like.
Also Fi thinks we should wait till it gets warmer out to do these. I don’t know if that will make a difference or not?
