You can use a crochet hook to pull the bottons through the loop. Any craft store has them; just make sure you don’t get on that is too big and won’t fit through the loops.

I would say use a crochet hook as well. On one of the featured real wedding blogs there was a pic of the MOH heading off the crochet hook to the Husband-to-be which I thought was cute ~ since he will definitely need it for later!

My alterations person said a screwdriver (a new one, of course) is the ideal tool for this job, even better than a crochet hook.
