Hey hive! Yet again, I have an outfit issue. My engagement party is today, it’s at my parents’ house, and it’s a casual open house. Nothing fancy. That being said, I want to be a little more dressed up, since I’m the bride, and I love excuses to wear pretty things!
Here’s the dilemma: I have two dresses, I’ll freeze in one, and the other seems too dressy.
This dress is probably more appropriate, but I don’t think it’ll look good with a cardigan, and it’s not exactly a timeless look.
I LOVE this outfit, but I’ve had several people tell me it’s too dressy for an afternoon casual party.
I’d wear that with black tights. Sorry about the bad iPhone image quality, but you guys get the idea.
So, should I wear Dress 1 with boots, Dress 2 with black tights, or something else? I don’t have any plain, basic dresses, so that might be something I can look for today in the 10 minutes I have to go shopping. Eeeeeeee!
Oh and just as a heads up, I can’t wear heels (I know, it makes me sad) because I’m awaiting knee surgery. Eep. Thanks for your opinions!

I love outfit #2 and don’t think it’s too much at all! Have a great time today!

I think dress 2 isn’t too much for an afternoon shower, especially with a cardigan. As a side note, though, dress 1 is flipping cute! 🙂

Dress 2, who cares if it’s too dressy! It’s your party, you’re supposed to stand out!

I agree with PP. Both dresses are adorable, but 2 is definitely a better choice. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with looking glam at your engagement party. Kudos to you for being the most fabulously dressed one there. =)

Dress one with the shoes in your dress two pic. Keep the cardigan.

Love dress #2, would totally work with tights. Not too dressy for a shower as long as you keep the cardigan.

i voted for dress 1, but should have read more carefully first. I think with tights id go with dress 2!!! its not too much at all.

I love the first dress, but not with the boots!

Outfit two is gorgeous and I don’t think it’s too dressy at all, especially not with tights!

Thanks for the input, girls! I went with the majority and wore the 2nd outfit with black tights, got lots of compliments, and had a wonderful time! Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!
