Any Dakota/lace scallop hem brides, help me out! I took my dress home from alterations the other day–it fits perfect and the seamstress said to call her closer to the wedding if any weight fluctuations necessitate further work. At the time I was thrilled, but now that I have the dress home I am not sure her hem job was…professional? She cut off the lace scallop and lifted it up further, but she cut it off completely unevenly. In some spots the scallop part that is now several inches higher is about 3-4 inches, in others one inch–it seems haphazard. Furthermore, when she sewed the scallop back onto the dress, in some parts she put the seam in the middle of the scallop, so that the lace on top of the seam is loose and flappy. Basically, from the front it looks like lace tacked on top of other lace. Is this….normal? Does anyone have good pictures of a hemmed Dakota? I am really upset because, to be honest, this looks like something I could have done, and I paid her $200. Plus, I am working on losing weight still, and if the dress needs to be taken in a bit I don’t want to take it to her to butcher it again. I love the scalloped hem, and now it is basically ruined.
