Hi Bees! I can’t figure out how to set up the “altar” area of my ceremony. Here’s a pic of what I’m working with:
I just don’t really know how to work with this space. We’ll have a white aisle runner with red rose petals running up both sides, but that’s as far as I can get figured out. I like the idea of having drape-y fabric hung up there so the event director at the venue suggested hanging fabric over the doors (and the EXIT sign above the doors). BUT I’m not that into the idea of having fabric FLAT on the walls behind us. I don’t really like the canopy that is shown in the pic, I would prefer something more like this http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=12044852 but she said it won’t work due to the chandelier? If anyone has any ideas, suggestions, or even pictures of what we could possibly do in a space like that (that won’t break the budget) I would greatly appreciate it!
Also, I tried to upload a pic of the space but it wouldn’t let me. The upload page wouldn’t load for me. Maybe there is a plug-in I’m missing?

Here are the pictures:
When you are looking at the canopy with the bed, what are you thinking? You want like a chuppah thing?

I didn’t really want a full on canopy to stand under, I just wanted something to come out from the wall a couple feet so that there is actually some dimension, rather than just standing in front of a wall with fabric hung on it. I was thinking just have the front of the canopy out a couple feet from the wall (rather than it being completely open like it is on the bed) and then we could stand just beneath the front opening of it. If that makes any sense at all, I don’t think the event lady understood what I was asking.. I’m thinking that’s why she said we probably couldn’t do it (like I said, I only wanted it to come out just a few feet, so it wouldn’t come anywhere near the chandelier). I had that idea and thought we could make one of those petal curtains and have that in behind us too. But the more I brainstorm, the more clueless I become. I’m just having such a hard time picturing anything :/

I think you could use the bed canopy if you wanted. The measurements state that it is 84″ long , so even stretched out fully it would only come 7 feet from the wall. You could let the back panels fall straight to cover the door.
You are lucky that there is a suspended ceiling so you can use the T bars that support the ceiling tiles to hang your fabric from.
