Based on the uniform, red and blue are the obvious choices, but you could also go with gold/yellow/orange or purple. I'm not sure sage or coral will work.
I would say if your groomsmen are in tuxes or suits (maybe navy suits would look nice) then get creative and see what works well with navy. I'm not very good at it myself, but maybe orange, bright pink, etc. I'd say go with something complimentary, not matching, especially if the groomsmen are also servicemen and in uniform -- otherwise you will have a sea of Marine blue!
Orange is a complimentary color to blue, but I don't think coral would look too too bad. I'd really have to see swatches of the colors together. I don't think sage green would look too keen though. Have you thought about having the girls wear some shade of blue too?
Are the other men in the wedding party military? If not, black will look just fine with sage on the women. The dress blues are a very dark Navy, which can almost pass as black. They could wear the Alpha's (olive) and the women could wear the sage, but personally I think that's way too much green.
I'm assuming you're wedding colors are (or you want them to be) sage green and coral. I agree that either of those colors are going to clash with the uniform. But both of those colors look great with navy, so why don't you add navy to the mix? The girls can wear navy dresses and the bridal party will look great all together and then everything else can be sage and coral, maybe with a little navy thrown in to carry it through the theme.
My FH will prob be the only one in uniform. I don't necessarily want green AND coral - just one or the other . . . Also, I misspoke--"sage" green wasn't the right color to describe it - probably more like a kelly green. See link from David's Bridal: http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_bycolor_detail.jsp?stid=3715&sid=24363&cfid=5 (make sure that you click the "olivine" color.
Navy is a good idea. I guess I've always had the idea of a brighter wedding since it will be in the summer. What do you think about the "olivine" color from David's Bridal with the navy?
I was originally thinking put everyone in navy with coral or green accents and then the rest of your decorations could have navy accents, but that olivine would also look great. It looks like you've got a good idea of what goes well together. I'd say go with what you like.
Hello girls!
My FH is in the Marine Corps Reserves and wants to be married in his uniform. I want to have sage green OR coral dresses for my bridesmaids.
But - I don't want it to clash with his uniform: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:PlateIII_Officer_Dress_Uniform.jpg
Any thoughts? A lot of websites advise red dresses, but I don't want a red color scheme . . .
Thanks for any thoughts!
