Okay so I am trying to pick out a gift for my man for the day of the wedding. I am looking at a watch from Etsy and want to order soon since the wedding is only 2 months away. The shop does a full refund if I don’t like the product so I hope that would give me plenty of time to to get the watch in, decide if I like ait and want to keep it or return it with time to buy a new gift.
So here’s the dilemma. FI’s wedding band is wood. He had been dead set on a wooden wedding band since I showed him one on pinterest. He likes being different and I liked it too. It goes nicely with my rose gold ring. I thought it could be interesting to get him a wooden watch to go along with the ring. I really like the watch and the style but I am doubting if it will look alright with his ring. The wood colors may be slightly different than the photo as no two trees are exactly the same. But as a general idea, what do we think about the ring and the watch together? Should I buy the watch or look for something else? (There isn’t a watch out there made of the same wood as his ring.)

I have found another one that may go better with the ring?
What do we think? I’m freaking out with the wedding so close and I may be overanalyzing everything….

mallorinicole: I think a wooden watch with the wooden ring would be a bit too matchy matchy.
If you want the watch to match something, I would match the metal insert of the ring (if that is metal).

julies1949: The insert in the ring is italian marble.
Hm. I see what you mean about matchy matchy. I have seen some watches that are mostly metal with some wood in the face and some of the bands… Maybe that could be a different way to go about this idea.

I don’t think they need to match. Darling Husband has a platinum band and an array of watches. I actually bought him a pocket watch as a wedding gift and its more bronze in color. I really like his ring, By The Way.

librarygirl85: I am wondering if it would be better if I didn’t try to find one to match. Since it is so hard to find two woods that look exactly the same. Maybe it would look better to intentionally mismatch? Or is that crazy?
Say something like this:
I think I have looked at every wooden watch that exists on this earth so far… So maybe I have too many options…

mallorinicole: agree with pps. i love the ring but not those watches … at all. how about a more traditional stainless steel watch?

wrkbrk: I like the watches and I think Fiance will too. Like I said, he likes things that are kind of different. I dont want to get him something everyone else has or something too typical. I also don’t want to get him something he already has. He already has a stainless steel watch.
He’s hard to shop for normally so I’m stressing about the wedding gift.
