I am a size 18/20 and am getting married in fewer than 7 months (yikes).  The wedding is not very formal, relatively small and FI have pretty much personalized the entire thing to be very intimate and about our love...blah blah blah.

My point is that I have fallen in love with tea-length wedding gowns because they really fit my personality and style as well as fit our wedding style. I have never been one of those girls that dreams about her wedding, heck, I never even wanted to get married until I met FI. He said when I said "yes" that it was the most incredible thing for him because he knew how marriage never appealed to me (there's a lot of backstory on this topic).  I'm not a girly girl at all, i dont even own heels! And I really love this length dress because I feel like I would feel out of place in a long dress. ! Ah, I'm so all over the place with my thoughts right now!  Anyway, I'm sort of concerned because I'm plus size and I don't want to look ridiculous. .  What are some thoughts on this style gown For plus size or any size girls.  I would really appreciate your pictures of these gowns! Thanks bees!

I'm wearing one for my wedding for exactly the same reasons you listed - a full length gown just isn't me. Wedding is informal and fun, etc, etc. I'm a 14 street size and have some serious hips :)

here's me in the sample. I'm going to have my dress shortened a bit (to make the tea length) and ill remove most if not all of the crinoline to make it less poofy.

I almost went with a tea length dress, but I am getting married in April (hopefully outdoors) and assumed it would be too cold.

Here are a couple lovlies that I thought about:

I wore a size 16 tea length gown. I chose tea length mainly becaus I worked entirely too hard on my shoes to cover them up.

    And the shoes, of course.

I love the color and the top.  Glad you are taking down some of the poofiness.  Do wear a short heel (I'm a flat lover also) like these.  You will look sensational and make your hair very curly with a lovely small bird cage hair piece.

    Good luck!

Yay! I love tea length! My dress is a little bit shorter than tea length, but I think it is similar enough to not really matter :) I'm a street size 14 right now and think I rock my dress. I say choose a dress you feel good in, and own it!

I voted "I love it and I wore it" which technically isn't true because I won't wear it until NEXT Wed!!!!!!!!

This is a size 20 that I had altered to be tea-length and then I added the black tulle.

I think as long as you have shapely legs you're good to go! Tea length is to def show off legs! I'm a size 6 but have stumps for legs.. no nice shape at all and I look terrrrrible in tea length. I don't think it matters what size you are but it's all about your shape!

I think I clicked "not a fan" but I meant to choose that I love tea length dresses. I'm wearing a custom made tea lengthh dress for my wedding next year.

We're still in the alterations phase...but this is basically my dress.  The Seamstress says the length is perfect :)  I'm making crazy mirror face :)

@FoolsintheRain: Thank you! It's strange because while I always knew I'd wear a tea length dress, I never thought I'd buy a white dress, and here I am, totally in love with my dress! And my glasses, but I wear those everyday, so it's not as special ;)

@Aure:  Beautiful dress and shoes. Also, you probably get this a lot, but you look like Christina Hendricks, I'm jealous she's so pretty

@aprose:  Thank you! It's from BHLDN and it's sold out now (got the last one on sale, though they do have a lace version on sale there as well!), but it was made by Sarah Seven and it's super similar to her Elope Dress.

@Treid25:  Thank you and If you have not already send the Ouma owner a message. IF you are scared for any reasons about ordering the helps you through that AMAZINGLY! and her dresses are made VERY WELL I did not find one flaw with my dress!

@MissStumptown:  Thank you I think it will be very nice to have a light dress to change into for the dancing! And it will be so much easier to leave in!

I left mine ankle length and it looked great with the shoes!

My amazing mother also sewed a lace overlay (which I think looks lovely over a straight strapless gown!)

I bought this exact same dress for all the exact same reasons!!! TWINS

Had my fist fitting last week.

Love it still and know it will be perfect.

Working on pearl jewelry, minimal since the dress says its..

    GREAT CHOICE:)

Here's mine I'll wear in just a few months.  I chose a shorter dress for the same reasons you did--not a girly girl, having a casual day, etc. A friend asked if I was getting married in a wrap dress and flats, which is kind of my uniform.  Everyone who's seen it, loved it.  They have all said that it's totally ME, which is all that really matters.  Wear what you love, and most importantly, what makes you feel comfortable and beautiful.

Beyond that, there are lots of pros to a shorter/simpler dress--mainly that you won't have to recruit help from your ladies to use the bathroom and you can rock some amazing shoes.  Plus it will take about 14 seconds to put your dress on, which gives you more time to hang out with your friends/family that day. :)  (My MOH was super excited about point #1!)
