Ok, in need of some doggy advice here!
My husband and I adopted a 1.5 year old dog from the rescue about 3-4 months ago. He is overall a wonderful dog. He took really quickly to me and is very attached to me, however he has gotten better when I leave (not crying anymore but will still sit by the door). Anyway, he loves my hubby too, he gets excited to see him and snuggles with him too. However, we have this one big problem. The dog will NOT walk with my husband alone. He will go excitedly with just me or with my husband and I, but if I am home and my husband tries to take him by himself he sits or lays down, pulls back towards me, and just won’t walk. My husband has to try and “drag” him. When this doesn’t work because obviously we don’t want to hurt him, he has to actually pick him up and carry him down the street. The funny thing is he will walk back perfectly because he knows hes going back to see me. The only time he will walk with my hub alone is when I am not home. We figure that the pup is “looking for me”.
Do you bees have any advice or similar stories? Do you think we need to hire a dog trainer or something? Not sure what to do.
