Hi bees! I've been stressing the past 2 weeks+ trying to get our invitations done and it seems as though I bit off way more than I can chew in my attempts to save $. I designed our invitations and ordered them thru zazzle but due to weather conditions got them weeks later than expected. The invites are square and came with unlined, white envelopes. I already cut and made liners for those but needed to print the addresses on the envelopes before I lined them due to the post-lining thickness being too heavy for our printer. We cant afford a calligrapher and dont care for the plain address labels so we were going to print directly on the envelope. I bought a pretty calligraphic font and created a word document because we couldnt get the excel guest list to merge into the word document. 2nd problem- the envelopes are 5.25" square and our printer apparently doesnt recognize this (or just wants to make life harder for me) so I created a word document set with the margins of the envelope and cut and pasted each address, aligned it and was set to print only to have our printer basically "eat" 10 envelopes after various trial/error attempts. Long story short- I gave up and put all lists/ address files onto a flash drive to take to the local printer and pay them with $ that was supposed to be for our honeymoon. They cant do it either! their printers wont work w/square envelopes!

So- here's where I'm at now: I found various wrap-around address labels and studied their diy tutorials. Went to office depot and bought full sheet labels to print on and use my paper cutter to cut each label after printing. Tried different templates but liked none of them (colors didnt match or they wouldn't let me use the font I purchased already) so I created a label in the exact measurements needed for our envelopes. It is the exact proportions and looks great. I made the image in photoshop with a background I purchased from istockphoto and a frame graphic I bought from mygrafico.com. I then saved as a jpeg, opened in microsoft image editor and put my return address in the frame, opened back into photoshop, rotated and voila- wrap-around label w/ return address ready for the master list. Now, I'm stuck, hopeless and feeling defeated. I cant figure out how to open a word document, put 4 labels to a page and copy/paste the addresses onto the label in the spot they need to go. I am beyond stressed because I know these should've gone out a month ago. My grandmother had a stroke on Christmas and life has been a bit gloomy since. I know I am very behind and should have done this a while back but things have been very difficult for us. So please, please dont scold me or tell me how I need to get in gear, because believe me, I'm very aware of how late these invitations are.

Any help with how to enter addresses into these labels and get them printed asap is very, very appreciated! I am desperate here.

I am going to attach the image of the label I created. It is 2"x7" and should print 4 per 8 1/2"x11" label sheet. This does have my return address on it so please don't be mean and share it w/ marketers or send ugly things. I've seen other pictures on here where bees have blurred personal info and can only imagine this is why. I havent encountered any bees on here who have been hurtful and am hoping I won't with this post.

Thank you in advance to anybody who does have some insight and helps me with this. You have no idea how grateful I am to all of you ladies on here who help fellow bees out (especially clueless bees like me)

I emailed you the file. Here are the directions if you need to do this again. :)

    1. In Word, go to View > Header/Footer
    2. With your cursor in the header, go to Insert > Picture > From File…
    3. Choose your image and click ok.
    4. Right click (or control click on a Mac) on your image and go to Text Wrapping > Behind Text
    5. Copy your image (with your image selected, Edit > Copy)
    6. Paste your image (Edit > Paste)
    7. Move your new image wherever you want it.
    8. Follow steps 6 and 7 for however many images you want in your Word doc.
    9. Go to View > Header footer to get back into your standard view. The images will be faded back, but they will print solid.
    10. Change your margins so that your text fits in the label area

Let me know if you need anything else! :)

You could just make a new photoshop document that is 8.5x11 and lay your labels out on that.  Flatten your original layout (layer > merge visible) and copy that layer three times.

You can then create text boxes on top of the layers with your border/background where you can type in the addresses in whatever font you want.

What I like about PS is that it will print exactly what you layout and, unlike Word, will let you put whatever your want wherever you want.

Haha, you're welcome. I did letterhead Word templates for a year at a job I hated. I learned how to do it really fast. ;)

Bellagio saves yet another bride-to-be from disaster! Smile you're awesome!

@almergele: hope things worked out great in the end for you!

Sounds like life has been stressful for you lately...take a deep cleansing breath....everything will work out fine. And if it doesn't and things go a little haywire, oh well. That's what life is all about! Just remember...it's not the end of the world if things aren't perfect. Good luck! And try to have fun through this whole DIY process (take it from a fellow DIY bride-to-be :)
