I would like everyone’s opinion. and i have searched this whole board prior to this post to find my answer but it seems like no one have done it before.
I am thinking of getting the ivory WTOO OLIVIA . I love the oatmeal color since it might come out better in pictures but im afraid it will be off with my theme colors and besides, i would go for the ivory since its the more traditional wedding color. Although i have read the the ivory is more of a white but oh wells.
The color of the boleros below are all in ivory, OLIVIA brides please tell if you think i should get the ivory bolero (as pictured) or go for the white boleros.
I AM PETITE (5’3″) and would really like to go for something different. Out of all the wedding’s i’ve attended, all the brides wear strapless. Also, i am more of a modest, vintage style girl (unfortunately all the modest styles from ALLURE bridals didnt look pleasing on me) and i would hope that a lace bolero added to the oliva would be more vintage and modest.
you can see the details better on the link below http://www.tulipbridal.com/Off-Shoulder-Alencon-Lace-Bridal-Bolero-Wedding-jacket-shrug-WJ008_p_456.html
here’s #3 (BEWARE it look like the previous one–but this net has small white dots on it)
For those that dont know how the WTOO olivia IVORY looks like
(i found these picture here on the board, hope the owner dont mind) I am NOT having the 3D flowers stitched on below the waist line. I am also thinking of changing the sash for a pink ribbon sash to coordinate with my bridesmaids. ANY OLIVIA brides out there please help me!!!

I voted for no bolero, just because your dress is already beautiful without and doesn’t need anything more… though you wanted something that wasn’t strapless, i think your dress is unique enough, that no one will disregard it as just another strapless gown… however if you are pretty sure you are going the bolero route i vote for #3

I think the Olivia would look way too busy with a lace bolero.
The boleros would look great on a less ornate dress though.

@qt88pie: is there any way you could have thicker tulle straps added to the dress? I think that would look much better than any of these boleros. They don’t look comfortable to move in either, honestly.

I appreciate that you want to go with something different or modest but I think a lace bolero on such a stunning and detailed dress would be too much. What I would suggest is maybe a sheer ivory wrap that you can have dangling around your shoulders made in the same fabric (tulle?) that the bow around the middle is made. It will look like a part of the dress but if it gets cumbersome you can take it off!

I like #1 the best, but I think it would look best with #2!

thank you for all the quick responses! 🙂
I thought about it being too busy, but that is why i chose the bolero that have nothing in the boddice area. Just around the neckline and the elbows. and therefore i am not having the flowers on the skirt part of the gown to make it less busy looking.
I also thought about straps, but unfortunately, i do not like how my shoulders look in straps, or haltered.
Should i consider off the shoulder “straps” instead?like this? http://8wd.co/images/bridal-gowns/off_the_shoulder_wedding_dress_022.jpg

I love #2 because it is doesnt have too much going on. However, I dont think any of them would work well with your dress…..

So here is my attempt at photoshop lol
i just chose bolero #2 because i thought it would be the easiest to edit hih
again my olivia will not have the 3Dflowers below the belt. I am also thinking of replacing the top bodic area with Lace appliques. so it will go with the lace bolero more.
Sorry if the model is out of proportion with the dress haha…i tried to line up her elbow and her waist as much as possible.

To me, the scalloping of the bolero doesn’t go with the straight lines of the bottom of the dress, of whatever that overlay piece is called.
If you really want something more modest, I would add sheer sleeves with piping that matches the overlay part.

@qt88pie: What about chiffon cap sleeves? They give you that little bit more coverage without being “too much”. I think it would be too busy with the boleros even though they are beautiful. I had chiffon sleeves put on and love them. Only have selfie pics though

I think I would have to agree with the PP who said that the dress is too detailed as it is to warrant a lace bolero. If you definitely want to have shoulder coverage, what about a plain tulle overlay like this:

what about something like this?
My only concern is that the flowers on the olivia are “modern” looking, I think the bolero detailing would compete with that.
Though it seems like you are thinking of removing all of the flowers. Thus, are you just looking for the high/low line on the olivia?

@Mrs. Panda: yes, i like the style of the dress, the fit, and the feel of the materials. but not a big fan of the flowers…although i love flowers–those werent up to par imo.
the one you’ve attach is too much for me hihi
man..i am a picky bride…. 🙁
however i did attached an editted image of the dress with the lave bolero…just a few post ahead…did you see it? or can you see it/?? if not i can attach it again
I think i will ask the alteration people and see if they can attach it so i can see. Because i really dont think i go well with those cap sleeves.
