Sounds like she's an "Autumn" like me. :-) Autumns should stay away from reds, navy, white, black, and ooh - one more color I can't remember. Good for Autumns are greens, rust-orange, off-white, and warm pinks.
What about going to a bridal store with her and looking at dresses together. Have her try some on (or at least hold them up to her face) and see what looks best.
You are a good friend to choose your colors based on what looks good on your Maid of Honor. :-)
My suggestion would be to ask your MOH what colors she feels she looks best in if you are open to any and all colors. If you have some color ideas, giver her some suggestions and ask her to pick a color. If you both happen to be in the same place, taking her shopping is a great way to see what works and what doesn't. You can also put her in a neutral color and then give her an accent that will work with your color choices.
Thanks for the suggestions I really apprecite them. We have been trying to get together but we both have kids under the age of 2 so not really easy to do. I told her we have to get together in the next couple of weeks. Thanks Grey56 I want her in something that she feels good in, for her wedding she put me in black which I was grateful for.
What color are her eyes and hair? is there a photo you are comfortable sharing? if not can you find someone on google images with similare coloring to her?
Does she have a color she likes to wear? You could also buy dresses from somewhere online like Nordstrom, have them shipped to her house, then have her try them on at her convenience...that way she doesn't have to worry about making it to the store with her little one? Then, you can meet at her house and watch the little ones while she does a fashion show for you.
if she wants to look tan, do you think she'd be willing to try a spray on tan? If not, I'd suggest looking to her normal wardrobe to see what colors she wears the most often, and see if any of those would fit in with your wedding.
As a fair-skinned person who does not tan easily as well, I can understand the concerns about colors making her look washed out, but I honestly don't think you need to worry so much about it, as there are a variety of colors that won't make us look washed out! If you want the help of the hive, providing her eye and hair color (provided you are comfortable with this) might make it easier for us to provide suggestions.
Generally speaking, I'd stay away from really bright colors. Red is a color that actually works for me (blue eyes help) but that's about the only bright color I can do. I would stay far away from bright orange and bright yellow. But again, eye and hair color would really help.
Thanks ladies I am going to post a picture of her she will kill me if she knows.
Oh! She has the same coloring as my BM! she could try a red, but she would probly look rocking in a green, Like an olive or a leaf. I'm at work now but i will think more when i get home.

This is my first post but from reading all the other post I am sure you guys can help. My finance and I decided we are each only going to have one person stand up for us. I chose my best friend but she is very light skined. She has tried tanning and everything but just goes from red to pure white again. I am trying to find a color that won't make her look washed out any suggestions? I haven't picked wedding colors yet becuase I have been stressing about this one thing and I have less than a year to plan my wedding so I need to get on the ball. Any suggestions would be great thanks in advance.
