I had a separate bachelorette party where I went out dancing with friends (no embarassing presents, though!) and the night before the wedding I basically had a slumber party. It was a ton of fun :).
I think it's pretty rare for bachelor(ette) parties to be held the night before the wedding. In the USA, most couples have a wedding rehearsal the day or night before the wedding and then host a rehearsal dinner to thank all of the people who are participating in the ceremony. Some couples will then split up for the night, but we didn't. We stayed together. One of my favorite parts of my wedding day was waking up with my DH and spending the last few quiet moments of the day together before all the hustle and bustle started.
Usually around here (Canada) We have the stagette/stag party about a month to two months before the wedding. The night before usually is busy decorating the hall and a rehersal dinner. Then after that the bride to be, her bridesmaids, mother, father, sisters, grandparents usually hang out and just have a nice quiet evening in watching girly movies or whatever you want to do.
I had my bachelorette party at the end of July, so quite a bit before the wedding! I'm pretty sure FI's will be during the week before the wedding, but not the night before for sure. We'll have a rehearsal and rehearsal dinner the evening before the wedding, then we're separating and I'll be spending the night with my bridesmaids in a hotel suite.
we are having stag and hen nights. but a few weeks before the wedding. i'm stoping in a hotel with some of my bm the night before the wedding, having a nice meal and only a few drinks for nerves lol. fi wil be staying at our home with one of his best men, most likely with a takeaway and the games console, and a few beers
My FI had his bachelor party a couple weekends ago: deep sea fishing and a BBQ. I'm not having a bachelorette, no desire for one. The night before the wedding will consist of our rehearsal dinner and then FI and I going our separate ways until our first look the next day. I'll be staying at my home and trying to relax and get some sleep, either alone or my mom may stay over with me.
so does everyone have a bachelor/ette party regardless of age? i thought it was only for young uns?

not sure if i phrased this question right, but it seems most cultures have a custom of some sort of special evening to mark the end of the single life for the man and woman, and usually they each dont see each other from the night before the wedding to the actual wedding ceremony.
the UK has 'hen/stag party/weekend' - this means the girl goes out with girlfriends and guy with men, and they have a meal, get very drunk, have some stripper/dancer and go to a club. they also give embarrassing presents such as genital shaped candies and rude underwears for the wedding night. there is a film called Hangover which describes this well. i thnk this is only for people in their teens or twenties but i dont know?
in Indian cultures, there is the custom of ladies sharing tea and stories and applying mehendi, the deeper it stains the longer the marriage and deeper the love. sometimes this is the last time the lady spends with her family before she moves in with her husbands family after marriage
my friend had a quiet meal with her FI to celebrate their last day as unmarried.
what did you do?/ what will you do?
are there any other customs you know of?
