- Wedding: June 2011
Hi there! My name is Suzanne, and this is my first blog … ever! I never saw myself as the blog type. However, I am getting quite excited about wedding planning, and I figure that this is a good way to share my obsession without driving my friends and family crazy. 🙂
I got engaged to my wondering boyfriend (now fiance) on February 19, 2010. We were in Maine celebrating our 5 year anniversary, and he surprised me with a ring … right in the hot tub! So much for down on one knee, right?? Sometimes I have to change the story a little. Who wants to hear that I got engaged while naked in a hot tub??? But it was romantic …. candles, flowers, champagne. HE cried more than I did … and he is not the crying type. It was very sweet.
So, like I said, this all happened back in February. When we got back from Maine, I spent a few hours looking up wedding info online, but that was about it. I didn’t really get into planning at all. Not that I wasn’t excited about the wedding, but I just didn’t realize how fun planning could be! Everyone I encountered would ask me details about the wedding, and I had nothing to tell them. I always planned on getting married, but I was never the type to dream about my wedding day. It started to get a little ridulous with people asking me details, so I started to do more research. Guess what ….. It’s FUN!!!! I am now absolutely obsessed with wedding planning.
Here are the basics We originally picked September 10, 2011 for a wedding date. Now, we don’t really think we want to wait that long. I’m thinking as early as next June, but we don’t even have an official date yet. I was thinking June 4th or 11th of next year, but it scares me that it has been kind of cold and rainy here this month. Do I need to choose a date later in the summer? But I don’t want too hot either. So … who knows … we’ll decide soon.
The biggest thing that you need to know about my wedding is that it is on a budget …. a $10,000 budget to be exact. And we don’t have even close to that right now. That’s assuming we can save up a lot of money and that hopefully my father will be able to contribute a little bit. I know that he would love to throw me an expensive dream wedding, but I truly don’t want to ask him for anything. I want to do this on my own as much as possible. Plus I think that it’s ridiculous to spend $35,000 or more on a wedding, which I read was average in Massachusetts. Planning a wedding for around 150 guests under $10,000 will be quite a challenge, but I am up for it …. i think!
Are you guys ready to help? I need tons of advice and opinions. Ok wedding team … let’s begin!!!
