It's offical!! I've ordered my new dress! Here's my journey from playing dress up, choosing a dress, regretting it, to finding THE ONE!!! It all began at a little boutique...
I always knew I wanted a mantilla veil and something romantic. This was the first dress I tried on that I actually liked!

This was one of those dresses that look beautiful on the hanger but not on my body!

I made myself try on something a little more modern, but it just wasn't me!

I came back to my romantic roots with this Allure beauty! But alas, it was a little too poofy for me! But I sure did consider it for a while!

Below is what I thought was the one, but it never felt completely right. I constantly questioned it seeking out other people and trying on other dresses for reassurance. I was also dissapointed that I couldn't have my mantilla veil with this dress! It was just too busy for it!

And then one day I told myself that I would search one last time, just to be sure! And that's when I found my perfect dress! I ORDERED IT TODAY!!!!!!! And I now get to wear my long mantilla veil. It was meant to be! :)

Whew!! So that's my story! NOW SHARE YOURS!!
I dont have a journey to share but I just wanted to tell you that you look gorgeous in the dress you picked. Beautiful!
Here is my dress journey....
As you can see, I had some fun with it all... The Final dress selection will be announced soon.... :)

Love this thread!!! You girls all look gorgeous and made EXCELLENT choices! More, More, More!!
ok I will play!!
First day of dress shopping: (sorry for poor quality!)
First dress! loved it, and was strong contender for awhile.
Liked this next dress, but wasn't comfortable with it being tight around my hips
The next one, I loveddd the back, but the front not so much.
Day Two: I only tried on a couple dresses and only took pictures in two of the dresses. The second one is the dress I chose!
Andddd here she is!! It is Bernadette from Maggie Sottero. Just perfect. :)
The back:
Now lets see some more ladies! love all the pictures from everyone.
@eimajleigh: ah haha...oh my...MY dress journey? It's a book series. LOL. But I don't mind posting a few for fun!! :-) Just be forewarned! LOL
OP, your picture got me dreaming about the Erin. OMGOSH, it's absolutely perfect on you!
Since it is a 2010, where did you find it? I've tried to call a lot of stores, and have been told that the designer no longer makes it. Is this true? Did you get a sample? I've been looking everywhere (even preowned) with no luck :(
I did try the Enzoani Fatima (2011) but it was way too much tulle. The Erin looks much more manageable.
Any ideas?
This was the FIRST dress I purchased...yes, you heard me...FIRST. I had dress remorse nearly minutes after purchasing, and even though it's a beautiful dress, I just worried I hadn't looked enough. Doubt continued to creep in over the next several months, and Iknew I had to start looking again...
II decided I wanted something a little more romantic, something with lace, like my mom's wedding gown. This one was beautiful, but was too similiar in the bodice to my previous one to purchase. I wasn't crazy about the beading on the lace either. On to the next...
I decided to break from the A-Line silhouette, and try more of a fitted one. I really loved this gown, which reminded me of the Enzoani Dakota which I fell in love with at another store, but couldn't take pics in. I really loved the fitted feel, but was warned that a more mermaid look could run the risk of looking dated. :-/ So that swayed me against it...

I LOVED this Paloma, and it honestly had my heart when I put it on, except that it had some seams in the front that I didn't feel should be on a dress of that price...plus, the onlysample in existence was "white" and Ireally wassold on Ivory, however, the only off-white color Paloma offers is something called "Champagne" so I was scared to take a chance on it! What I ordered it in that color, and hated it?! It was too risky in the long run, and even though I was OBSESSED with the pleated fan work on the bottom, I knew that could look too rendy in pictures, rather than timeless, and I didn't want to go that route.
This pronovias gown was also a show stopper, and I really did love it. The only thing (andI know this is alterable) was the neckline...it wasn'ta sweetheart, and that un-sold me quickly). Still, this dress's lace was most like my mom's lace and I was enamored with the silhoutte...almost mermaid but still sort of A-Line :-)
I tried on a thousand David's Bridal, Alfred Angelo, and many designer gowns, from Vera to Lazaro...HONESTLY it went on and on and on and on. It got to the point where I could literally look at a dress and name it's designer, it's style number or name, and the collection it was from. Sick, right? Anyway...I went home, and continued the search with my mom and sister. I found EVERYTHING wrong with this Watters gown or that Lazaro, or this Romona...nothing seemed to totally sell me, and I was so afraid of making a mistake AGAIN! The last thing I wanted was to pick the wrong dress again!
In the end, it came down to two:

I never got my pic in this gown, but I was ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED WITH THIS GOWN. For MONTHS. Honestly. But every timeI had it on, something held me back from pulling the trigger. I'm not sure what it was toi this day, because I still fantasize about this gown...but something about it was just not "perfectly me". I was about to give up on my search when my WONDERFUL consultant walked in and said, "I have a dress for you! Do you think you can guess who makes this one?" It was the first time I had been stumped in my entire process. I had NOOO CLUE. She slipped it over my head, and I turned to see myself in the mirror, and I didn't know what to do. It was "the one":-)

I have no idea HOW MANY gowns I tried on...but trust me. It was a lot. My family was pretty much over me and my indecision at the end of it all, ha ha, but they were incredibly supportive through the process, and came to every fitting they could. I am looking forward to wearing it! :-) After all the back and forth, I can say my fiance has NO CLUE what I'm wearing the day of our wedding. haha. Thanks for letting me share!!
@tuscanbride: WOW!!! You picked THE most amazing dress!!! Congrats girl!
@Dolldancer8: Oh gosh, thank you so much!! YOu know what's funny? After going though all these pictures, I was like, "oooh, that one WAS really pretty" "...ooooh I really DID like THAT one", "...hmmmm, maybe I should have gone with this one?" hahaha. It's so hard! All wedding gowns are so pretty! But thank you for your comment. :-) I really do love it, and feel it was worth the indecision!
While you looked absolutely fantastic in all of them, the final one you went with is STUNNING on you!
Do you know who designed the third dress you tried on? (The too modern one)
My dress journey started the day after my engagement. I know, I know, a little early, but here's my reasoning! I recently lost a very significant amount of weight (size 13 to size 7) - so I wanted to get an idea of how different styles suited my body to help me visualize the dresses I saw online. My best friend and I went to a local dress shop and tried on a few dresses.

I loved dress number two, but its price tag was pretty steep and I wasn't prepared to buy the second dress I'd ever tried on. None of the others really struck my fancy or made me feel bridal. I went home with a better idea of what I was looking for than I had when I came in, so it wasn't a total waste of time.
I headed to the closest David's Bridal one afternoon with my maid of honor and one of my bridesmaids. We met with a consultant and she pulled some dresses based on a vague description and set of guidelines I had given her. The results? Not bad. See for yourself.

I was pretty ambivalent on both of these dresses. They just didn't suit me.

This is actually the same dress! David's Bridal has a line of convertible dresses that have a long skirt that unhooks to reveal a shorter reception dress. While I looooved that reception dress, I absolutely HATED the outer skirt. It was made from a material that felt gross and hung poorly. I was really disappointed that it was my only option for that dress!
I headed home empty handed but continued to look over the photos. Every time, I came back to the same dress... I found myself thinking about it more and more often, until I decided to go back and try it on. I returned to the first shop we visited. As soon as I stepped into it, it was MY dress.

Do you recognize dress number 2?? That's right, I ended up buying the second dress I ever tried on. I just had to shop around to realize that we were meant to be. I do not get emotional over girly stuff. I might have shed a few tears of joy over this one. I found out that my dress is one of a kind, and the sample fits me without needing much in the alterations department (just a bustle!). I put down my deposit that afternoon.
This is so much fun! Love seeing the thought process behind the final selections! <3
@MissMogwai: Congrats on your weight loss!! YOu look INCREDIBLE! :-) All of your dresses were beautiful choices, but I love the one you ended up with! Glad you trusted your gut! Congratulations on putting the deposit on it today too!! :-)
@tuscanbride: Your search was totally worth it! That dress looks absolutely amazing on you!!
@MissTaken: They definitely still make it!!! I got mine at Pebble's Bridal in Woodland Hills. Have you gone to the Enzoani website to look up retailers in your area? They should be able to order it for you to try on if they don't have a sample already. I agree about Fatima. Its BEAUTIFUL but was definitely more tulle. I feel like Erin is Fatima's playful younger sister, lol!
@tuscanbride: OH MY GOD your dress is incredible!!!!!!! I feel like we have similar styles! I wanted something romantic and was worried about a dress looking dated one day! You made the PERFECT choice!!!!!
@JenniferMm: I can't remember who the designer was but you could call Rose Petals boutique in Toluca Lake, Ca and describle it! That's where I tired it on!
@eimajleigh: Thank you SO much and I feel the same about yours!! I am in love with your neckline!! That deep sweetheart is to DIE for!! And what other time will we get to wear a full A-Line or Ballgown, right? Your dress is stunning, I am so happy for you, and thank you also for starting this thread!
@tuscanbride: That deeper V sold me!! It feel SO much more flattering than the one I originally ordered! I'm so glad people are enjoying this thread! I was so excited to post it and then I got a little nervous because it started out slow. Thankfully it totally picked up! Let's keep 'em coming!! I LOVE looking at bee's in all of these dresses!!!
contrats on your weight loss!!!!
this is an awesome thread, here are some of mine. I also have a thread similar to this one, but I will narrow it down here (my thread is called "dress frustration" or something like that... so lets start with the first ones....
This first one was okay but was just missing "something" couldn't figure it out, i think it made my boobs look great, but the bottom looked like a bell.

then came this one... uh, big fat negative ghost rider! I looked like a bell, just really did NOT Like this! Not to mention it was too traditional, and I am not traditional.

Uh, no, just no...

and again, yea, no, too poofy but i did like the top (don't mind my black spanks showing haha)

I put a deposit down on this one.... ewwww wtf was I thinking? DONT PANIC! i let the money go... lost money, gained self confidence! haha
okay now we getting closer and back on track...

off track... wayyyy too much going on here. (Its eden)

dont fret... back on track... this was almost it!

then I tried on my "dream dress" or the dress I have been DYING to try on since I seen it in a magazine... Julietta 3091 not as happy as I htought I would be

let the consultants pick one... not happy with this one either... felt it too young for me, was Marys...

went through a few more before I FOUND HER!!!! and without further ado... here is my lovely!

I can't wait to see more stories like this. These are only some of the ones I tried on, was very picky! But I didn't want to settle, and I didn't. I love seeing the photos and hearing the stories!!!! I added more photos than I thought, but trust me, i could add more, but nah, not gonna;)
thanks for this thread! >subscribe<

@MissMogwai: I LOVED dress #3 on you:)
This was the 1st dress I tried on (a friend was selling it after cancelling her wedding) She wanted a lot more than I wanted to pay though so I went dress shopping a few weeks later.
These were the dresses I tried on at the boutique! (I love all of them still!)
...and heres my pick!
I got pretty lucky... I have issues with strangers so I was crossing my fingers for 1 dress shop visit! I found my dress the 1st day out... I love her.
@tuscanbride: Thank you! You are so sweet. Your dress is absolutely breathtaking on you!! I'm glad you kept looking and didn't get discouraged. I love the bodice and the lace trim on the skirt!
